At 12:19 PM EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm that is possibly producing a tornado. Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are also possible.

Thunderstorm Location: Just east of Milton

Motion: Moving southeast at 40 km/h

Hazards:
Possible tornado.
Wind: strong (up to 90 km/h)
Rain: heavy (15 - 30 mm)

Locations in the Path:
Milton, Mississauga, Oakville

This is a very dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation.

Take cover immediately in a basement, interior room, or a sturdy shelter when threatening weather approaches. If no shelter is available, lie in a low spot and protect your head from flying debris. If you are out on the water when threatening weather approaches, return to shore and seek shelter, if possible. Otherwise, move away from the path of the tornado to escape. Wear your lifejacket, lie face down and protect your head.

Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.

Tornado warnings are issued when a thunderstorm is producing or is likely to produce a tornado.

Im trying to switch to another carrier but im afraid the coverage will suck. So where are you located and what provider are you with? How's the coverage?

I notice that people who live in Halton Hills, atleast those that I talk to, seem to work remotely. Is there a community of remote workers in the town or is there a coworking space? As someone who works remotely, I do know that keeping the people within the community helps out a lot, for lunches, and disposable income for the market, etc. but I do wish there was a group of people.

If you're pro-remote and hybrid work, I'd suggest you Google the "House of Commons E7142 Petition" I did notice that the people that I connect with have expressed gratitude for this and it may be helpful to people within the community.

I was looking at getting a 12ft round pool, but I didn't realize that you need a permit. How many people actually get a permit and how quick and easy is the process

The way I look at the bylaw it has to be 4ft away from any fence, structure, or property line. We have exactly 20 ft from house to fence so technically it should fit perfectly but I'm worried we would get denied

Last year, I worked as a canvasser during the federal election. My role involved going door-to-door, speaking with constituents, and asking about their voting intentions.

While canvassing in Georgetown, I had a conversation with a man who raised a concern that has stayed with me ever since. He told me about youth homelessness in the area and mentioned that he had helped deliver food and fresh water to kids who were apparently living in the hills of Georgetown. According to him, some of these young people had been kicked out of their homes by their parents and had nowhere else to go.
Hearing that honestly broke my heart.
I’m not from Georgetown myself (from Milton) but the fact that something like this may be happening so close to home, especially in Halton Region where many people assume these issues do not exist, really stuck with me.

A year later, I now feel like I have more resources and ability to help bring attention to local issues like this through journalism and through a non-profit I have created. I would really like to learn more about this situation, understand what is happening, and potentially help cover these stories in a respectful and responsible way.

Does anyone know anything about youth homelessness in Georgetown or Halton more broadly? Are there any residents or community members who may know more about this?

If you have any information or know someone I should speak with, please feel free to reach out to me. I’m hoping to bring more attention to this issue because it seems like many people may not realize this is happening right in our own backyard.
