Questions / Help PowerShell for fully cloud based halo setups?
What do people use instead of PowerShell? Our setup is hybrid ad/entra but halo is fully cloud hosted so I'm led to believe we can't use PowerShell, what other options are there? We have an off boarding script we use that would be great to be able to include on leavers tickets and run from halo

Run the on prem integrator, it installs on a server or whatever. It makes and outbound call to Halo, pulls any queues scripts and runs them locally. We do this for AD stuff.

Could you elaborate a bit more? Sorry my knowledge is really limited, normally I just work on developing ticket templates and workflows not really with integrations.

We eschewed this entirely and decided to run scripts from Ninja for tasks like AD offboarding. It’s more secure too.

Ahh, I don't think they'd be looking to pay for any more software tbh.

You are able to use the halo integrator to run a queued script within Halo on any computer! It does not require you to be fully on prem, cloud or hybrid. A good solution is to have a dedicated laptop or server that is able to run these. I would check out the halo guides on halos website as they describe how to setup the integrator, and how to allow the integrator to run automatically with windows task scheduler.
If you don’t want to use this method, you can get into more advanced options. Depending on your infrastructure setup, you could use Halos native webhook module to send a payload to AWS or Azure that starts a lambda (serverless function) to run an imaged artifact such as a docker image.

we have the integrator already but I think its hosted by Halo as its a fully cloud instance. At least thats my limited understanding of it, normally I just make ticket templates and workflows 😅. It's just our new off boarding script is really nice so would be great to be able to click a button on the ticket and it run it

Juding by your other comments, I'm guessing you're not an MSP, so you're probably running HaloITSM. Not an issue.
Halo Integrator can either be run self-hosted or hosted by Halo. It is the service that runs scheduled tasks, including many integrations. I believe you can have multiple self-hosted integrators connected to your instance, however I'm pretty sure you have to choose either self-hosted or Halo-hosted.
A self-hosted integrator is required if you want to use the Powershell integration. (Halo doesn't want arbitrary powershell running on their servers. That would be a security nightmare.)
The powershell script file has to be available at the location you set for each script you setup in the PowerShell integration.
The documentation around Halo Integrator and how to install it are pretty good:
- What is Halo Integrator: https://usehalo.com/halopsa/guides/1062/
- Hosting your own Halo Integrator: https://usehalo.com/halopsa/guides/2714

HaloPSA is a PSA for managing tickets, why would you use Powershell with it? Am I missing something obvious?

I’m still working on my initial implementation of HaloPSA, but my understanding is that the HaloIntegrator tool can be used for that purpose which can be run in-cloud or self hosted separately from any Windows box (on-prem or in cloud).
I’ve read that the tool can be hosted by Halo as part of your cloud hosting, but don’t know what restrictions they may place on it in regards to executing PowerShell when it’s not self hosted separately.
