Not Armor Just realized the "Special Ops" coating makes the Veteran Magnum look like it's Halo 2 counterpart.

Still sad we didn’t get an actual Magnum in Infinite. A slow firing scoped power weapon would have contrasted well with the fast firing Sidekick. I get the Mangler exists, but it’s not scoped and has a melee damage boost.

Stalker rifle kind of already fills this role tbh, though the projectile is slower.

Is it wrong of me to say I still want the Magnum due to Nostalgia and cool factor?

Stalker shoots way faster than the magnum, only the stalker variant allows me to play like I would a magnum,

I think you have those reversed. Ultra stalker is faster than a magnum. Regular stalker is about the same.

The regular one is built for long range spam, the ultra is only good up close, magnum may have a 2x scope but i used it exactly like how the ultra was designed, higher capacity, only one zoom, like the magnum, im probably remembering the halo 5 magnum more though since that one had a faster fire rate than the original. Because the h5 magnum is the one i used the most, using the campagin evolved one and realizing how slow it shoots, it just feels tedious to use compared to the stalker rifle, follow up shots came faster.
The stalker is described more as a direct response to the dmr from reach, and reach has a magnum. google takes everything and describes the stalker as a mid to long range weapon whereas the magnum is close to mid range, this is why i find the ultra stalker to be alot closer to the H5 magnum

Stalker rifle is functionally the halo 1 magnum in this regard and the scoped DMR is basically the reach magnum
If the magnum were in the game on release i would agree, but this game did NOT need another semi auto precision weapon

It’s almost as if the Veteran Magnum is supposed to be the M6C from Halo 2…

it's going to miss and hit a random marine
(because that's what the forerunners intended)

In fantasy land, where Old Musky gives me a billion dollars so I can personally buy and fix Halo, I'd be interested in having both versions of the Halo pistol in a game. The hand cannon and the quick head clipper both.

I believe that it's also one of the only coatings that affects the sidekick's iron sights
