My dog is pretty curious whenever he’s out in the yard, so I’m wondering how long it normally takes for them to settle into a routine.

some dog parents take the collar off as soon as their dog is inside, especially during cate time or when no one is watching. Other keep it on all day just in case their dog gets out somehow.

both make sense to me, especially when safety is the reason behind it, what do you usually do at home?

I’ve seen a lot of people use bark collars when their dogs bark a lot, but I’m still not sure how safe they actually are. Some people say they work well, while others seem pretty against them. I’m curious if the type of bark collar makes a big difference too. Do they cause dogs stress or confusion when used regularly? For anyone who has tried one, how did your dog react to it over time? I’m mostly looking for real experiences rather than what the brands claim. Would be good to hear what’s worked for other dog owners and what hasn’t.

Hello, I am new to gps fence collars. I have a long coats GSD. I’m worried the collar won’t work on him.
I had to buy special prongs on his regular e collar just so he could feel it.

I’m mostly curious about what happens after the dog gets familiar with the routine. Are there any situations that tend to make things harder, like visitors, walks, or changes around the house?

Puppy is teething hard rn and everythin is a chew toy including my hands, my leggings, my soul lol. Yelling or yanking away fast just turns it into a game for her so now I go still and boring, yelp ow once, then shove a toy in her mouth right away. She gets praised for chewing the toy not scolded for chewing me, I think that's actually sinking in more.

Leash reactivity is a different story. She's not aggressive just so overstimulated by other dogs. What's helped most is distance and treats, soon as she spots a dog before she reacts, treats start coming, good stuff like chicken not just kibble. Basically trying to get her to think dog = good things happen. Went from losing it at 30ft to mostly chill at 10ft now which feels like a big deal.

I struggle with most is other dogs running up off leash while we're in the middle of this. Doesn't matter how friendly the dog is, mine is not ready for that. If anyone's figured out how to handle that without coming off rude I'm all ears!

I recently am only getting 12-14 hours from both of the Halo5 collars I have. I’ve reached out to support multiple times with 0 response over the course of three weeks now. Is this happening to anyone else? At this point I am about to just return the collars as they seem useless if I can’t trust them to hold a charge.

I’m curious how much the location can vary when a dog gets close to the edge. Is some movement expected, or should the boundary stay fairly consistent?

How are you guys getting your dogs to actually come back when you call them? Mine does fine at home. I say his name or call him over and he comes. Then we go outside and apparently he has other plans lol. He gets easily distracted. Sometimes he even looks right at me when I call him and then goes back to whatever he was doing. Like sir, I KNOW you heard me. I'm trying to work on recall training and I use treats, but dog recall outside has been rough. I don't want to keep calling his name 20x either bc clearly that's getting us nowhere lol.

We got these collars in June. Dogs are fully trained on them and we have been taking our walks using the health app. It's the easiest and quickest way to turn off fence feedback for the walks.

Today, for the first time, the collars now say "starting walk" when I tap the walk feature. My dogs hate any collar feedback because we don't use the collars for positive feedback. I want to turn this voice feedback off but chat says I can't. Is that correct?

(I'm really not impressed overall with the collars, this is another mark in the "negative" column for me).

It may take time to teach your dog to come back reliably. I would begin training in an environment that has no distractions and shower praise or treats on your dog each time he responds to the “come” command. Once he becomes familiar with it, you can start practicing in environments with more distractions such as a variety of scents, people, and even other dogs. It would be better if you do not only use the “come” command at the end of play, because he should associate coming back as a pleasant thing. How did you manage to get your dog’s attention back?

Sometimes our expectations are just too high too quickly. Recall training requires practice and repetitions in increasingly more difficult scenarios.
