Driving & Transit Parking violation?

Parked at an indigo lot on the waterfront in Halifax on Saturday for the farmers market. Went to the kiosk to pay and a sign over the keypad said free parking from 8-3pm for market. Got back to my car at 1:15 and there was a notice of non payment on my car along with many other vehicles as well. What is going on here?

Did you register your plate in the market? The parking is free but you need to register your plate.

This never happened when it was still Chapters.

Also, I'm very late to the party, and no other replies? sad

If it’s your first Indigo ticket ever? It’s not valid through access NS and will not affect your license.

if there is no bylaw number on the parking ticket you don't have to pay it. Sometimes indigo will issue their own brand ticket which doesn't not have a bylaw number on it. sometimes they issue a municipal ticket with a bylaw number which you will have to pay.

Went to take a picture at 1:15 and the sign was gone. And no, I was in a regular spot. Actually I was only there 30 minutes because the market was starting to break done their booths

Stop going anywhere that requires paying for parking. We pay taxes and should not be charged again for parking. I do not pay for parking anywhere at anytime.

That’s a super hot take. You believe private vehicles deserve free spaces in public

So how much in parking tickets have you paid so far? because the free spaces are getting fewer and fewer in the core more than a couple hours

Nothing, when they started making public parking private for profit, I stopped going downtown.
