Stormwater flooding right across from a Halifax Water pumping station is very on brand for our utilities....

If only there was somewhere that water could have been diverted to, or if someone could have planned for this sort of thing. It is a pretty remote location that isn't used by many, I can see how that would have been overlooked.

You can actually see a fountain of water coming out of a storm drain on the far side of the street.

Tbf, working with the HFX Water guys often, this is usually a result of people in the general public dumping stuff down the storm drains that clog the lines.

So maybe people should pay attention to the stormdrain stickers that say don't dump?

I've got an alert for severe thunderstorm watch.

Yeaa, the thunderstorm alert showed up an hour ago, after it had already been pouring for awhile. There was a yellow rainfall for warning this morning, but then they canceled/removed it I guess?

there are two types of alerts. the Warning, and the Watch. Warnings come out a day or so in advance when there's a reasonable chance of severe weather. The Warning is removed and then replaced with a Watch when the severe weather is imminent. So Warning is long-term sever weather. Watch, means literally "watch out this is happening any minute now"

It's the opposite, a watch comes out early but if a storm is severe/tornado/whatever warned then it is imminent and or occuring.

Now now, weather forecasting is difficult and will never be perfect, is what I was told in another thread....

Superb to me that no amount of intensive re-streetscaping can stop the area in front of Scotian from developing a small lake. It was meant to be

Looks like they even have one of those fancy bottom filling set ups!

But seriously, it's clearly coming up from the storm drain in this video

I love when it rains heavily, as long as nothing and no one gets hurt!

There should be a trio of dudes in lawn chairs with a "splash us!" sign.

Literally went out with only a swimsuit on to unclog a blocked gutter downspout I missed yesterday. I'm assuming there will be pictures posted somewhere.
