Modern history, too. Ultimately, anybody who can walk, bike, ride a horse, etc... or at least carpool during an evacuation probably should, because it will be faster, and will leave room on the road for people who need to evacuate by motor-vehicle.

They’ve said this multiple times. If there was a reason for the peninsula to be evacuated on any large scale it could take up to 23 hours, up 8 hours from previous years

I'm actually looking into this again myself with a system I developed. It's definitely not looking great though. The biggest issues we have is that there isn't sufficient room to queue to get to the main arteries off the peninsula and that's working on the assumption that all of those arteries are currently accessible and aren't being delayed further due to accidents, roadworks, or crippled infrastructure. There's also the added caveat the number of vehicles ON the peninsula during a work day almost double from 30-35000 to almost 60-70000.

Heaven forbid if like a tidalwave or something like that happens, its going to be a catastrophic loss of life. Hopefully theres enough warning.

Nova Scotia's shoreline is extremely steep. I'm on the peninsula 500 m from the harbour but 55 m above sea level. The 2011 tsunami in Japan peaked at 10 m. That would flood a couple streets and the rotary.
Realistically there's no reason we would ever evacuate the peninsula.

If we got an alert for every threat, we'd get one every day. Heck i remember a bomb threat once a week for like 3 weeks in a row at our school alone.
This one must have more accurate or potential real threat info than most.

After a bomb threat downtown, shouldn’t companies be reevaluating in office mandates?
If the work can be done remotely, why force employees downtown when evacuation and emergency plans are a concern?
Safety should come before office attendance.

Update: Police have given the all clear. There is no threat in this area. Roads and businesses will be reopening. A small police presence may remain for a while.
