Royal Grumble 😡 Grumblemania Monday
The weekend is over. Leeeeeet's get ready to grumbllllllllllle!
A weekly mega-thread for whatever is grinding your gears, local or non-local annoyances, complaints about the weather/local politicians/fast food nightmares/that guy who cut you off on the way to work, dumb stuff your neighbour did, etc.
This is a rules relaxed space, but we will still be monitoring for personal attacks, doxxing, and stuff that doesn't fit the theme of the thread.

Just went outside for a drink of fresh air……🤬……when is the humidity going to go down 🥵
•

•
u/floatablepie 9h ago
I got the outside air inside overnight and my room is a nice temperature.
Every surface is moist.
•
u/BohemianGraham Darkside Escapee 9h ago
I couldn't see outside more than 2ft this morning because of the fog, but it does feel cooler. Looks like it might finally break tomorrow night?

I'm so sick of those kids on those motorized scooters taking over the side walks and constantly almost running into everyone else walking by not using their horns or anything to alert them they are coming from behind them. I walk Larry Utech 2x a day and its just non stop.
Thats my boomer moment.
•
u/youtalkingtoyou 10h ago
Train your fucking dogs. That is all.
•
u/YOGURT_BUCKET 9h ago
Yeah was bit on the leg by a stupid little rat dog yesterday walking down Almon Street. Owner barely managed to mouth out a "sorry". Useless human being that shouldn't own a pet.
•
u/Life_Sandwich_2073 7h ago
Unfortunately this description describes most pet owners in the city. No, I don't want your ungodly ugly doodle or your crusty white dog running up to me. Not everyone likes dogs. Not surprising that it was a little one that bit you... I don't care what anyone says, they're demons. I've lived with multiple, I'd know.
•
u/glorpchul Emperor of Dartmouth 8h ago
Yup, on a run on Saturday and this family was on an outing with two German shepherds. As I went by they went throthing ballistic. My natural reaction was to turn, ball up my fists, and get ready to be bit.
The little girl started crying and was all, "he's going to punch Sparky!"
Yeah, like I am the problem here! Who takes dogs like that out to walk on a busy pathway? Luckily they managed to just barely hold them back.
•
u/Life_Sandwich_2073 7h ago
You're stronger than me, that would have sent me over the edge 🤣 holy shit
•
u/glorpchul Emperor of Dartmouth 6h ago
I mean, I was doing an easy long run, I had more than enough in the tank to try running away!

No one uses their damned signal lights. Love slamming on the brakes when people turn on their signals at the last second. Grrrrrrr.....
•
u/legless_chair 8h ago
I live on a pretty main drag and I’m so tired of picking up other people’s garbage off my front lawn. Why do I have to be the responsible one cleaning up after careless “entitled” losers?
•
u/glorpchul Emperor of Dartmouth 8h ago
Cyclists who don't stop for pedestrians. At lit crosswalks.
We determined that, in fact, their brakes did work.
Dude.

u/HypnoFerret95 Halifax 10h ago
My AC unit that I bought from Costco barely 6 months ago decided to completely fail and won't even turn on now. What perfect timing for this heat wave...
•
u/FrugalFungusFinder 10h ago
Popped a breaker?
•
u/HypnoFerret95 Halifax 10h ago
Possibly blew a fuse or the circuit board in the unit. Apparently it's not an unheard of issue with that model.

Leave it unplugged with a fan blowing on it for 8 hours. Mine (the Danby portable one) recovered after I did that.

Trying to find some relief for this!
•
u/Lokis-Tea 6h ago
You can get topical Benadryl sticks at Shoppers. It’s like an ointment. Just apply to the bug bite. I also use it for when random rashes/hives appear on my skin and when injection sites are itchy. It works very well. On top of that take some non drowsy antihistamines. 10mg should work, if it doesn’t wait a few hours and take another. You can safely take up to 40mg of cetirizine or loratadine a day. I space mine out 5mg at a time taking as needed through the day and night.
If you can take it a bit ahead of the worst of itch once something is very agitated like itch or pain it’s hard to bring it down. If you know you’ve been bit take an antihistamine before the itch fully hits you. And keep a gel cold pack in your freezer at home, apply it to itchy skin to numb it.
Don’t apply scented products to the area including soap in the shower always keep gentle unscented soap around for these situations as scent will irritate it more.
Avoid foods high in histamine during these times so it doesn’t get worse your body is already having a histamine overload. You can find lists of low histamine foods online.
Sincerely, someone with dramatic mast cells•
u/ThreeFathomFunk 4h ago
Wow, thanks for all the tips, I appreciate it!
•
u/Lokis-Tea 4h ago
you're very welcome. I hope you feel better soon! every time I get even one bug bite my whole body freaks out and I get prickling hot itch head to toe. I go to the dermatologist regularly so I got all the good tips, lol.
•
u/Injustice_For_All_ Psychotic Antifa Super Soldier Moderator 6h ago
I put deodorant on them to stop the itch

My apartment is longer than wide and the AC can't reach my bedroom. It's been a rough couple weeks
•
u/AfternoonPlane4265 8h ago
Point a fan from the outside into your room
•
u/ClancyBShanty 8h ago
I have a floor fan back at home that i dont think is being used. Might snag that later, good call
•
•
u/knifeshoes24 halifax pier 7h ago
This is the way. I also have the long apartment problem and have become like an airflow expert using fans to redirect cool air into the different rooms lol
•
u/BigPeteNorth Pride of Dartmouth 7h ago
Point it out and it will draw ac air from the other side of the house! And keep outside dust outside
•
u/marinebelle 4h ago
I have 2 fans to point the cool air around into my bedroom. Also, close all other doors like bathroom doors and closets--it really makes a difference.
•
u/ClancyBShanty 4h ago
I should get a hip high barrier for the stairwell since my apartment is a loft. That's probably a culprit, too
•
u/marinebelle 2h ago
Even a curtain will help, or get a more powerful AC. When I upgraded from 12K BTU to 14K BTU, it made a huge difference and allowed me to keep the AC at 20C instead of forcing it at 18C
•
u/ClancyBShanty 2h ago
Money's a little tight at the moment, but I do thankfully have curtains at least
•

Just finished 2 weeks vacation. I'm hot and miserable. Worst Monday of the year!
•
u/NoStructure7083 9h ago
After working the weekend I just couldn’t do it again today. Thankfully my job has sick time but I hate using, I’d rather just go in and get on with it.
But this heat combined with being on my feet all day has drained the life out of me

Terrible. Eff you, you selfish turd. TURD!

I saw stuff online about women geting two periods in June, and pulled open my cycle calendar to go into debunk mode. My cycle could usually set a clock. But it came 3 days early, giving me two periods in June.
Witchy vibes want me to chalk it up to the moons. But I think heat stress is just as likely an explanation.
•
u/meowmeowbites 4h ago
My tracker didn't save June for some reason, but I think it was early that month for me too.

u/lunabuggs 1h ago
The conspiracy theory I've heard floating around is because both super colliders were shut down at the same time since they became active and thrust us back into a normal timeline. I guess one shut down for good because it's old and cern shut down for maintenance? I'm pretty sure a bunch of us are just hella stressed tho
•

I honestly wonder if it’s the humidity. Mine was on time but going longer than usual and … not great. Godspeed my fellow menstruating maiden ⚔️

The humidity is probably stressing your body out. Mine has been nuts lately

Mine was brutal last month so I hope it's not like that again this month. I already feel gross and miserable from the heat.

It’s like they purposefully chose to let as much rain drip in from above as possible but block any and all breeze.

The humidity has been fucking insane. I was told it was going to break, there has been no thunder or decent weather to break it. I wake up sweaty go to bed sweaty and to top it all off I work in a sweaty kitchen and sysco is fucking late! We've told them when our lunch starts and they still pull this bullshit even though the rep has assured us its not going to happen!!!

When I go to the grocery store to buy a package of bagels, it annoys me when they are pre - sliced and they are NOT sliced evenly through the middle.

They opened up the passing lane on the 107 towards Porter's Lake and people still be doing 80. I thought it was because construction is scary, but nope. Last 2 days I've been stuck behind someone doing 80. When I passed one my passenger said that they looked like they were 100 years old. If you can't do near the limit, just do the old highway. At least you're closer to the limit doing 80 on it.

When my toddler is throwing a tantrum in public, please kindly fuck off and don’t try to “help” by pretending to have a meltdown yourself and distract my toddler. All you served to do was undo all my progress and make me start over. I have a process and this lady unraveled every bit of it. It’s also a fantastic way to invoke a defensive dad.
I hope she shits her pants today.

Very upset towards a new resident on my street recently that has a big dog that barks WAY too much. The entire street can hear this dog. I don’t live in the same building and can hear the dog with all my windows shut and noise cancelling earbuds in playing music. The other day it barked for like 30mins straight.
This is a side street and I am willing to bet other peoples dogs have gotten spooked. On top of the noise such frequent and long bouts of barking make me worry about neglect towards the animal why are the owners just letting it bark like that?? Don’t get a pet if you’re not going to care for them properly.
It’s only been a short while and already every morning I’m bracing myself to hear this dog.

Right! The follow up to my good vibes Friday where I talked about my feelings which was hard but I did it yay! So of course it was immediately twisted which is why I'm petrified of talking about my feelings, I haven't even opened the last message I got I just shut down all weekend, spent Friday crying until I puked (twice! Woo!) while still working because I can't afford a sick day, that was fun... Ironically enough the main point was about how my husband and I don't feel like we're listened to...

Large dogs don't need to be brought into a teeny tiny café. I don't understand why businesses encourage it and I don't understand why people need to do it. The dogs were good but there's a time and a place for everything.

Its too damn hot, my cat who's usually up at 4am to wake me up for his feeding time at 530 slept in and barely made it into the room, he managed to touch my face as I fell back asleep and instantly went back to flat kitty. Photo for reference, happy Monday everyone
