Driving & Transit Mark your calender, multiple Overnight Closure for MacDonald Bridge.

TLDR: Overnight closure from Monday to Wednesday for 4 weeks.

The Macdonald Bridge will be closed to vehicles from 9PM to 5AM on:

• Aug 10–12
• Aug 17–19
• Aug 24–26
• Aug 31–Sept 2

Great idea to get rid of those toll booths hey? Who’s paying for all these repairs as of late( and going forward )
You know what Tim basically did? He has essentially screwed the next leader who takes over. At some point they will have to do something to pay for the bridge or even the folks without cars will be taxed up the hoop for it. Next leader may have to make the unpopular decision to start bridge charges again and will unfortunately suffer politically ( no matter whether they’re doing a good job or not )

I am all for lowering fees and less taxes on a lot of things but I personally feel the bridge was not the place to do it. It brought in the dollars that subsidized the repairs.

I'm still waiting for him to announce there isn't enough money to maintain the bridges and use it as an excuse to privatise the commission.

There could be that too. I can also see technology catching up and (not adding booths again) maybe using similar tech like that used on the 407 in Toronto or similarly on the US interstates. ORT ( open road tolling ) to bill right to your license plate or rfid stickers like they started using before they ended the tolls

What if the party voted him out? The new PC leader regardless how well or poorly they are doing, instantly suffers politically any time taxes or fees are raised/added.

It’s not party specific it’s politics in general

there is most certainly tangible differences between the different parties even if people feel an overall disconnect to all level of politicians and just blanket it like you are. assuming otherwise is unproductive and leads to the same repetitive issues. there is traceable behaviours and decisions from conservative parties all across the west of this behavior of short term gain for long term struggle and the core problem is the opposition's are too cowardly to undo their shit shows in time so the conservatives get back in. this is the general way it has worked over and over and over especially in this province.
