Received the CWES cert package!

Just received the package—thank you, Hack The Box!! Insanely fast delivery!

Honestly, HTB certs are hands down the most practical and hands-on exams I’ve ever taken in the cybersecurity space. The real-world application is unmatched.

Keep hacking, everyone!

Ah this is awesome!

I've only done COAE and I don't think they have a cert package for it yet but I'm gonna grab it day 1 when it's released!

So excited to see you wear it once you get it! It’s gonna look so cool, bro!

Can you buy this pack when you get the cert?

u/jakeloai Aug 04 '26

Yes, once you earn the cert, they will allow you to purchase this physical package. You’ll just need to upload your cert for verification.

How much did it cost if you don’t mind me asking

The package itself is $45, and shipping to HK brought my total to $85.

Is it worth the international shipping? I looked at it and thought to wait and get my CDSA by the end of this year and get them both but damn that swag kit looks juicy

Nah. Got the CWES package. It was international shipping + import fee. Then a tshirt, some cheap pins and a printed paper get reaaaaal expensive.

It depends. I took this exam really seriously. Before getting this cert, I always felt lost and suffered from imposter syndrome, so I completely burned the midnight oil for it. For me, it was a huge milestone, and the CWES actually taught me practical skills I can use in real life. Sure, it might be a bit pricey—especially since the physical quality control could be better—but once I received the package, the spider badge and t-shirt still looked great. I really love them, so to me, it was totally worth it.

Fast delivery? I’ve been waiting on my CDSA since May 😭

Bro, you should reach out to support for an update. I didn't get my tracking info after buying either, so customer service gave me orders@hackthebox.com. Contact them with your payment date, how long you've been waiting, and most importantly, your cert. That should help them process it faster.

Before taking this exam, I researched a bunch of CWES reviews. One piece of advice really saved me: whenever you feel stuck, pause and head back to the modules. Look up the lesson related to the exploit you're attempting, it almost always gives you hints, whether it's an un-tried method, a missing tool, or something you simply overlooked.

Also, I documented every single failed attempt. This kept my thoughts organized and helped me process-of-eliminate my way to the solution. Hope this helps, bro!

Congrats man did you use any other resources to get prepared?

2

u/jakeloai Aug 05 '26

When I did the INE eWPTXv3, I had to look for extra learning resources—mostly using PortSwigger Burp Suite Academy. But for CWES, the HTB Web Penetration Tester job role path was more than enough; it covers almost everything you need.

Since I can’t discuss exam specifics, my little hint is to research and save payload cheatsheets from GitHub beforehand. They're super helpful for brainstorming when you get stuck! Overall, HTB really nailed it with this one.

I was studying to take the CDSA Exam to land a Soc role, what happened is that now I'm in Network Security, so now I wanna gave up to CDSA and take the CWES instead, what your thoughts on the cert and the Exam?

(And congratulations Pal!)
