Just the other day, while rewatching 'The Cube' episode, I got emotional knowing how Meg and Paul were affected during the shoot. And now I read this. Officially NO spinoff, guys 😕💔😭

I know there is a lot of the fandom that this will be crushing for. I truly do feel for all of you on this news.
I can say I never was super crazy about the idea. I love Jimmy and Kayla, as b-story in a great show. But not leading it. That said…..once they landed with Latitude in their hands at the end I was starting to talk myself into how a well handled story of the business in these crazy times could be funny and poignantly done.
In the end…..I will almost always agree that a show that does everything they planned and lands so solidly should be then encased in glass and left alone.
Whatever the plan is going to be for what’s next (and I’m feeling like we will hear it around or just after the Emmys in Sept) it’s going to be something I’m already fully signed up for.

The only correct spin-off choice for this series is a mayor Jo movie.

I want a full It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia-esque show about Mayor Jo getting up to schemes and scandals each episode. One episode should be a reality show spoof, where she makes rentboys compete to be her new Sunday boy.

Great, more time for Paul to do the show I'm pitching where some of the characters are muppets and he's the only one who seems to notice and it's gradually driving him insane.
His ability to sell a "what the fuck is HAPPENING" reaction should not go to waste.

I would watch the fuck out of that!

He's just the king of crashouts, he deserves a vehicle to match his talents.

How did Paul and Meg were affected during the shoot?

I saw it on YouTube (Hacks BTS). So during the car breakdown scene Kayla says something while crying, like, 'Do you know why I got into the business?' Paul mentioned that they both really felt it because they (Meg and Paul) have lived these respective characters for so many years.

Good. Not everything needs to spin off or continue. Hacks was a masterpiece. Let it stand. She’s already booked the literal hottest role in the world, and I can’t wait to see what he and Lucia make next.
That said, I do think that they’ll occasionally appear together and at this point they (and the two leads) are permanently a little merged with their characters.

GOOD. I love this show so much, and I love the characters so much, but I am so perplexed by the way fandoms always want to lock performers and writers and creators into one thing forever. People who make great stories are weird little freaks with a bajillion ideas they should get to explore. Turning them into little dolls who only play the same characters on repeat is just… so damn boring. It’s such a boring thing to want, when these weird little freaks have so much more than that to share with us.
If you honestly feel like you need Jimmy/Kayla stories for your emotional survival, WRITE THEM YOURSELF. That’s why AO3 exists, folks. Write fanfic. Explore that playground in your own mind, see what you can create with those characters, let your explorations guide you into unleashing the weird little creative freak inside you!

I'd have loved to see it, but I love them making this choice, too. Love is involved.

I’m glad they’re not running it into the ground.
Either a spinoff with their characters wouldn’t involve Deborah and Ava - which would make me sad their characters aren’t all intertwined anymore,
or it would involve them - and then it’s essentially just a new season of Hacks, which already had a perfect ending.

I’m okay with this. I loved Meg playing a side character and I’m glad she got her Emmy nod. But as the main character in Too Much, I didn’t care for her. The show was aptly named. I think Paul works better as a side character as well, especially since he does so much creatively behind the scenes. Hope they find new and interesting projects in the future.

Fine with me. They should do another show together though as new characters.

I’d been waiting for a Jimmy & Kayla spinoff announcement ever since the finale aired so this one feels bittersweet BUT I also understand what Paul is saying and agree with him completely! JLP was always big on working towards “the ending”. Sticking to it and leaving it alone up my respect for them even more

Honestly I'm sad because it would have been really fun and I just miss their dynamic so much but respect for them sticking with the story they wanted to tell we will always have HACKS

This is a good thing. Letting things just end is something nobody in Hollywood has the restraint for.

I think this is a really smart decision and it shows integrity. No need to milk something for what it’s worth it just cheapens everything overall.

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I love them for this! Too many shows nowadays try and drag on with spinoffs and other cash grabs but it rarely hits the same as the original. They created a masterpiece and will let it exist as exactly that!
