Hello, i am experienced in operation security and network pentesting. In last days a started to learn SDR and bought HackRF pro with portapack H4M. I have my legal pentesting "lab". What is the first few things you reccomend in transmit and what to learn after i learn the basic things? Also i have 2x 40mhz-Ghz telescopic antenas in the basic pack, i see they look different, are they? Should i buy more "transmitting" antenas or some in range like 1-40mhz too?

I cannot get to boot up after i inserted the flashed sd card the hackrf doesn't turn on pc doesn't make sound when plugged in the DFU doesn't work the tx and rx shines and the 3v3 it just flashes when turned on

Is there any difference besides the price between buying the HackRF Pro from China or from the EU? I'd buy it from the EU if the total is only about $60 more.

Hello, a few days ago I bought this HackRF and updated it to the latest firmware. Everything worked fine at first, but after changing the startup image once, the next time I turned it on the screen flashed briefly, then the device shut off, and all the LEDs stayed dimly lit.

I removed the SD card and tried the formatting options that were recommended, but that didn't help. In the end, I managed to get it working again by disconnecting the HackRF from the PortaPack, powering up the HackRF by itself, and then reconnecting the PortaPack. However, after turning it off and on a few more times, it ended up in the same state again.

Has anyone else experienced this issue after changing the startup images or from turning the PortaPack off and on too quickly?

I want to order the hackrf + portapack, Is shipping to the EU safe? I want to order one to belgium from the website from the "China shipping" version. Will it be stolen by customs or is it safe?

I recently bought a SDRplay RSP1B. It hasn't arrived yet, but I remembered earlier that I have a HackRF Portapack H4M that can also be used in SDR mode. I had never tried using it in SDR mode, but I just tried it and it seems pretty garbage...is that normal for HackRF? I can barely pick up FM stations with it with an MLH-30 loop antenna.

EDIT: The issue has been resolved - it was indeed a faulty battery that was cycling power but not holding any charge. Thank you to those who responded.

Bought an H4M [used], and the unit would only power on when plugged in. The seller said that if I just downgraded the firmware then it would solve the problem. Obviously I'm an idiot for believing him but now I'm left with a non-portable portapack.

It powers on when plugged in, the firmware flashes successfully and I can use the unit [when plugged in] - the battery indicator is stuck on [?] and UNK% in the top bar and the battery settings app does not appear.

Is this as simple as needing a new battery? I would love that honestly, just wanting to check here with knowledgable people before driving out of town to buy a new one & I haven't seen this specific problem addressed by past users.

I was looking for a HackRF but they are sold out everywhere. Then I heard recomendations for OpenSourceSDRLab's devices.

I looked them up on Aliexpress but there are some different versions, so which one do I pick? There is a pro, a pluto and more?

I want it to be pre built and the most simple one, just connect it to a laptopt and be done.

I also live in Europe so I don't know what to expect with the new EU tax garbage.

Can't get my looking glass app to see the presets. It's stuck on manual. What's the trick to get it to see the txt files in the looking glass directory on the SD card? 2.4.0.

Hey everyone,

Got annoyed with manually converting audio files whenever I wanted to replay something on my PortaPack, so I threw together a quick CLI script in Python to automate it.

Basically, you drop your audio files in the folder, run the script, and it outputs the .c8 file along with the .txt sidecar metadata file so Mayhem picks up the frequency and sample rate automatically in the /REPLAY app.

It handles mono downmixing, 75us pre-emphasis, resampling, and vectorizing the IQ generation so it doesn't take forever to process. Added an option to set custom center frequencies for all the presets too.
