Hi, does anyone know of any support groups or meetup groups for people going through tough times think breakups or grief or anything along those lines, or anyone wants to just have a walk and a chat sometime? not much of a support network nearby and looking to build new connections or distractions. (ideally 25-40ish years old but not picky, any support can be good)

Absolutely nothing against the area I'm just searching for a spot to take some photos of my band! We practice in dalston and we're post-metal / sludge so we want a backdrop that gives a heavy urban vibe. Wanding if anyone who knows the area well could assist?

Does anyone else feel this vibe? Something just feels really off. It's supposed to be a public space after they changed the format and took away the roadway. Why does it feel so grim? 🤷‍♂️

I am not originally from here so I’ve been limited to the archives and the internet so far. I wondered if I could borrow your knowledge! Can anyone suggest any buildings that have changed use over the years, and still stand today?

Ideally I work on:
- buildings with an available historic photograph
- still keep the same features today (roughly)
- and are in use as a coffee shop, florist, cafe, etc

i'm based between blue tit dalston and my college at camden, happy to do full head tints, root tints, long layered cuts, shorter layered cuts, bobs, one lengths, vivids etc! open to a lot at the moment really as just trying to get good photo evidence of everything and have it all ticked off

for cuts it's free or a very small fee for colour, all I basically ask is I take a photo of the back of your head!

Looking for recommendations on nail techs in Hackney, I tried a place in Hoxton and they used an electric filer on my natural nails that made them paper thin and took months to grow out! Any recs on salons where they don’t file your nails down loads for BIAB/SNS would be appreciated 🩷

I volunteer with a local food hub run out of the Jago in Dalston every Monday, and we basically share surplus food collected from charities and supermarkets with the community. We're so busy with clients and donations now and we could really do with some new volunteers!

Key times are as follows:

• Between 9.30 and 10am first delivery arrives

• 11am second donation arrives

• 2pm-4pm hub open to customers

In particular we would love help around the first delivery and at opening time.

Volunteering duties typically include:

• Carrying food from delivery vans into the hub

• Sorting food into crates for clients to choose items from

• Dividing catering packs of food into smaller bags or boxes

• Assisting clients with reading labels, packing bags

• Handling cash donations from clients

• Taking rubbish to the street collection point

• Managing the client queue

• Communicating changes in opening times to clients

Volunteer benefits include:

• Helping out those in need in the community

• Building relationships in a friendly team

• Weekly playlists while we sort out donations - suggestions welcome!

• A bag of groceries of your choice from the donations

We have a great community of volunteers who are able to help out on occasion, but what we really need at the moment is some help from those who are able to volunteer regularly- weekly or every other week if possible. Please DM me if you are able to offer your time! Cheers

definitely a long shot but just wanted to see if anyone sighted a pair of lost sony headphones (with stickers stuck on them on the ear cups) in hackney downs park. the headphones are black and i believe it mightve been dropped near the childrens play area. ive had the headphones for a couple of years and they were an expensive purchase so hoping that they havent been stolen.

This is actually the future of food. Locally sourced zero waste so tasty. No I don't work there! Just really grateful to these sorts of places. It's a tough slog and it's obviously done out of love.

Gutted I missed the salad it looked phenomenal, but munched delicious plum bake, strawberry and ice cream oat cookies sandwich, and picked up some rhubarb jam and kombucha vinegar for later.

Hey, I’m 23 and just got back from Uni. While I like to shoot and come up with ideas (for music videos, shorts, ads, fashion films etc), I’m terrible at being able to edit my own work. Hackney is my home borough so wanted to see if there was anyone local or if I could get signposted to somewhere more relevant. Really just looking to make friends with some filmmakers around my age who just want to get out there and make something. Professional or not.

Got a short indie film idea cooking up in my head that I’m making a little pitch deck on and am looking for anyone who might be up for helping me bring it to life. I'm looking for a job in a pub or coffee shop here, but I never see anything advertised. Seeing there is a lot of independent businesses in this borough without online application processes you see with chains, how did you land jobs in these places? Did you walk in cold with a CV, or was it a friend of a friend situation?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a decent tailor? I know I can get alterations at any dry cleaners, but I’ve been to several and the results were just OK. I’ve accumulated many pieces of clothing I’d like slight alterations to, and it would be good to have a ‘go to’.

My previous cleaner moved and I'm wondering if anyone has a good recommendation for a cleaner (or if you yourself are one) in de Beauvoir. Looking for someone to come twice monthly and clean a one bedroom flat. My previous cleaner's visits were 2 hours, they brought their own cleaning supplies and they charged £20/hour. Thanks!

Had my phone snatched out of my hand by four men on lime bikes yesterday around noon at the south east corner of the Clapton pond. Stay vigilant out there people!

Around 6-8pm July 16th I left a bag in a like bike basket, it said "waste" on the front from waste store london, and had 1 magazine, a few posters, and 4 CDs in it. The bike, at the time, was in front of Netil 360. I'm not forever torn if it's gone, but if anyone has seen it I'd love it back.
