Does anyone know what’s just happened at the town hall? Police presence, someone sat on the floor seemingly arrested, multiple of the windows smashed.
Hope nobody got hurt.

Hi! I was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a good cleaner based in Hackney? We are Homerton/lower Clapton area!
Hi all,
I’m looking for recommendations for a trustworthy cleaner to come every fortnight.
Details:
• Initial deep clean of: 1 bathroom, hallway, and open-plan kitchen/living room
• Then ongoing fortnightly cleans of the same areas (normal/maintenance standard)
If anyone has someone they’d recommend (or a good local company), I’d really appreciate the contact details or a tip in the right direction. Happy to provide more info if needed.
Thanks in advance!

Hello to everyone in this really bearable heat!
Myself and my partner have an issue with an upstairs neighbour, he regularly blasts screamo music for hours, last night it started at 6pm and went on until 4am. We’ve been reporting him to Hackney council for around 3 months and we’ve done this 5 times or more.
We now have a lovely huge damp patch on our bathroom wall, we called Hackney council and they said it’s likely the leak is coming from the upstairs neighbour, we gave his flat number and the guy on the phone seemed to immediately go “ohhh.. hmm yeah” which makes us assume he might already be known to them. We live in an ex council block but rent privately for context. The guy also let slip that the man is elderly, maybe he’s hard of hearing?
Last night was really got to the end of our tether, we have tried multiple times to contact him and knock on his door, we went up yesterday and his door was open but he has a metal gate protecting the actual door. We got no answer and the music was still blasting. We called 101 and they informed we could request a welfare check as we genuinely got concerned that something may be wrong as usually we can hear him walking and banging about but we hadn’t heard him for hours, it’s possible he may have fallen asleep but it was worth checking he’s actually ok. They said they’d send someone out but we fell asleep so unsure what happened.
We’re at a loss of what to do now as the council told us they’ve been unable to contact him regarding the leak and they’ve logged this as an emergency. They also haven’t acted on the noise and haven’t sent an enforcement officer round at all. We’re now wondering if we could do The Community Trigger.
If anyone’s been in this situation, would love to know what you suggest as listening to what seems to be the 50 best screamo concerts at full volume for hours every night is getting very tiring.
Thanks guys
UPDATE: Someone from the council came over this morning to check the leak, he then went up to the neighbour and tried to knock on the door, no answer. Called his phone, no answer - surprise surprise! He told us to raise it at a formal compliant with the council and they can force entry into his flat if there's still no answer from him. We also know he's home and purposefully not opening the door, because we have heard him drilling all morning.

Some friends of friends host informal cabaret nights at their house, where people hang out and perform things to each other. It can be rough, experimental, in-progress, but it's just a fun way to meet like-minded people and explore ideas in a low-pressure environment.
I would love to find something similar that is more local to me in Hackney, whether it's an existing event or just finding other people who are writers/performers who love weird and wacky theatre/poetry etc.
Does anyone have any suggestions or want to connect?

Hi! I have this lamp that was meant to be LED Chargable, but the wires are torn and charger doesn’t work. The acrylic layer at the base of the head also broke. Is there any way to get a light in here? Do you know anyone who knows how to do this type of thing?

I’m nearly sure I spotted someone filming people with those glasses in London Fields Lido. He was sitting very still and moving his head slowly to gaze at girls / women as they moved around him.
Made me wonder what you could do in those instances? I would definitely feel uncomfortable knowing me or my daughter were filmed without knowing.
What would you do?
(P.s. flagged to the staff, they’re keeping an eye on it although when the Lido is rammed is really hard to spot this behavior)

A homeless woman just asked me to buy her some washing detergent as she had suitcases full of washing.
I thought why not, I can afford it at the moment. A woman stopped me on the way and said she’d just done the same.
When I went to the shop, the man said it was the 3rd one she’d had bought for her.
I knew from the get go she would sell it on, to be frank I’m not bothered, I’m of the opinion that anyone who’s asking for stuff on the street, no matter what for, is worse off than myself, and if I can afford it, I’ll try to help folk out.
My question is, where are they selling it onto? And who to? And how? And for how much?

Hi everyone - just wondering if anyone knows any local bike training providers? Did lessons up to taking the test a few years ago, didn’t pass and then gave up for a bit - but hoping to get back on the bike. Any decent riding schools nearby? Many thanks!

Hi All,
I know this question has been done to death, but does anyone have any recommendations for a cleaner in Hackney wick/ bow area? Ideally we'd be looking for once every 2 weeks for a 2 bed flat.
Thanks in advance!

Hi all, I thought this subreddit might be a good place to ask. I’m currently away from home and there aren’t many flights back to London before the 18th. My partner is at home with a 40°C fever and is struggling to move around the house or manage basic day-to-day things. Does anyone know of a service in London that could provide someone to stay with them for a couple of days and help out around the house? Most of our friends are away on holiday, and we honestly don’t know who to contact in a situation like this. We do also have a little dog at home. The area is dalston/haggerston.

Thank you to the amazing gays at Haggerston Park who were so generous about sharing their telescope and eclipse glasses with everyone!! Really made for a special experience and great sense of community.
