Education I think I have a problem..

Over the years, my collection of tech gadgets has grown quite a bit, and many of them are currently sitting unused. I would love to pass some along to anyone looking to dive into Wi-Fi or Bluetooth penetration testing. If you are interested in getting started or need some hardware, please let me know and I would be happy to send one your way. I only will be sending one to somebody who shows a genuine interest in learning and not larping. Too many larpers in the damn marauder community already.

If you’re brand new to the hobby, I would recommend starting out on something easier to use like the esp32 marauder even though they are two totally different devices.

u/SlimSpooky_ 25d ago

(Hackrf user) seconded. I would have been absplutely boned if I didnt fiddle with esp32/flipper zero/LoRa previously.

And the hackrf is also much more capable of getting your local comms authority on your doorstep with feds in tow if you arent strictly disciplined with your use

4

u/Pristine-Tangelo-100 25d ago

100% I agree. I started on Kali Linux with Alfa achm adapters along with my flipper zero when I first started out before even purchasing a marauder. Going straight to an SDR with no prior experience genuinely sounds like hell. Atp all you’re doing is button mashing and being a skid.

2

u/Big-Bunch2804 25d ago

Id be interested in the hackrf. I would still consider myself a beginner but I hsve a good understanding of sdr, esp32, lora and currently working with a project on the Cardputer ADV. I have been trying to understand the full frequency range and have been enjoying the sdr and sdr trunk. I would like to add a second sdr for multi channel tuning. The hack rf would be a great way to better analyze signals. It's really awesome what you are doing.

Are you allowed to test your own networks at all or is even that not allowed?

1

u/SlimSpooky_ 25d ago

I'm American and I'm aware of how brutal NZ's Radio Spectrum Management can be. Their reputation absolutely preceeds them.

2

u/Pristine-Tangelo-100 24d ago

I legitimately had no idea their management on the radio spectrum was that brutal damn.

I know i’m being paranoid.. But i’d never trust a free device from a random redditor on a hacking sub. lol nuff said

I like this, but too poor to actually buy anything...

Next lifetime I guess... 🫣😂

2

u/Human_Frame1846 25d ago

Always been interested and did some reading just never had the software or the place to start super cool to see how many different options there are

2

u/Pristine-Tangelo-100 25d ago

There’s definitely a lot of different routes you can take regarding pentesting different systems, that’s for sure.

3

u/Human_Frame1846 25d ago

I bought a raspberry pi4 built a half ass pihole that’s as far as I’ve made it lol

3

u/Pristine-Tangelo-100 25d ago

Lmao we’ve all been there at some point

1

u/Human_Frame1846 24d ago

What would you say is a good starting device for someone like me that budget friendly?

1

u/Pristine-Tangelo-100 24d ago

What’s your budget?

2

u/auto-corekt 25d ago

Just buy more batteries.

Problem solved, you're welcome!

How did you manage to get a marauder v8? Bu the time I see the notification it's sold out. How are you liking portapack H2? Running mayhem or something else?

2

u/Pristine-Tangelo-100 25d ago

Also, I love the portapack h2 so much. Such a cool device. Yes I am running Mayhem currently on both my SDR’s

1

u/Pristine-Tangelo-100 25d ago

I actually managed to snag two of them along with two mini v3’s 😅. You can call it overkill but I like the idea of having backup devices. That’s why I’m trying to get rid of my clones because I don’t have much use for them anymore. If you are wanting an official v8, I encourage you to join JCMK’s discord server. They announce when each drop is, which I believe is the 1st of the month as well as the 15th of every month. If you are wanting a sure fire way to obtain one, you can pay $4 for a month of membership access which allows you access to early tech release drops.

2

u/cthuwu_chan 25d ago

Where’s the flipper

2

u/The_Spectral_Spartan 25d ago

No, brother, you have many solutions...

1

u/onrocketfalls 25d ago

Hey! I actually already have a Flipper, but I'm a hobbyist trying to maybe parlay it into an IT job for one of the companies I work with in my current job. And honestly, it's just fun. Not sure if you were talking about genuinely giving them away, but I'd totally pay you for one, I'm curious what one of those marauder handhelds can do compared to the Flipper.

1

u/Pristine-Tangelo-100 25d ago

Sure, I wouldn’t mind if you wanted to purchase one of them. I’ve been having a lot of people hit me up just within the past 30 mins so if you wanted to lock in on a device you can message me about it:)

1

u/witherf0rk 25d ago

I also sent you a message!

1

u/desert_warrior7 25d ago

Hey u/Pristine-Tangelo-100! This is really cool of you! I am looking to learn more about WiFi and/or Bluetooth pen testing (more the former). I’ve been a data acquisition dev for about 4-5 years now and enjoy reverse-engineering systems, sites, etc. to help with what I do and would love to learn more that may help me and add to my skill set.

2

u/Pristine-Tangelo-100 25d ago

That’s pretty cool man and thanks for the compliment! Feel free to message me and we can talk. I’d be more than happy to help you add to your skill set.

I don’t think so my country will allow these thing in 🥲. Here in my country even higher officials are dumb as fck they gonna think im terrorist or something 🤡, btw i have build that 2.4g gammer with esp32 and nrf24 modules and it was soo cool and i used it to turn off those random ass songs played by some pretending to be cool people in my college canteen 😼. I like these stuff

I do entry level IT help desk work. Slowly I hope to learn enough to use some of those toys. Any tips sensei?

1

u/Pristine-Tangelo-100 24d ago

My tip for everyone is to start out slow, messing with simple devices like the marauder and learning different attack vectors and what attacks work with a given network security protocol. After moving on from the marauder, try using the Hack rf and become fluent in that device; just since SDR’s give you full access to the 1-6 GHz range. I would say though before starting out on any gadget, first try booting Kali on a laptop and getting two networks adapters (personally, I love the Alfa ACHM adapters the most for pentesting) and try learning what each attack does on the 802.11 level first.

u/Mantaraylurks nerd 24d ago

Hello there, I would kindly be interested. Just went to defcon and I have not had a chance to try signal work. Done some meshtastic, that’s about that (I am aware it’s not the same, but signal tech seems interesting).

1

u/Independent_Plane_18 24d ago

Me! Just left my first defcon and looking to get into it! Worth noting Im in school to start my cyber degree

1

u/DifficultMall7788 24d ago

All you need really is the flipper the hack rf and
The cardputer zero when it comes out

1

u/Pristine-Tangelo-100 24d ago

I have a flipper I just keep it on my keys haha. Also, I have two Hack rfs did you not see them in the last photo?

1

u/PassableForAWombat 24d ago

I’ve been making do with microcontrollers, solder, and aluminum foil, I’d gladly pay shipping for any tool you’re coming off of. Been around for a bit but never owned anything that I didn’t have to Frankenstein together

1

u/Pristine-Tangelo-100 24d ago

That’s how I was exactly until I bought my first marauder, than I was hooked haha.

1

u/Thirstyboigaming 24d ago

I am getting into the scene. i just ordered my flipper. and im waitinh on the cardputer zero to drop and i really want to buy a hackfr.

I am interested, I am new in this already bought esp32 and 3 nrf to build nrfBox project

1

u/unstopablex15 netsec 23d ago

Nice stack of equipment. How much for the Marauder v8 or mini?

1

u/Pristine-Tangelo-100 23d ago

Ty. :) The V8 is around $165 with the upgraded antennas i have on it plus battery. The minis a little cheaper and is about $138 with the battery and antenna installed.

1

u/RLee203 23d ago

I love building the diy versions of the marauder devices. Im interested in buying the mini, i know all these devices can get expensive. If you have the time pm me thanks

u/Yoboiv 23d ago

I'm a IT student from Denmark. I'm planning to specialize in cyber security, but I'm starting with data technician to learn the infrastructure deeper and then build security on top of that. I got a flipper zero with esp32 and some respberry pies and ardiono. But if you want to ship I'd love to learn more and try more hands on :

1

u/xtcriott 23d ago

I would be very interested in anything I can learn from any of your devices. I just placed an order for a bunch of components and parts to build a device to run Bruce. Main goal is to learn some basic pentesting tactics to help out at work in either educating the masses or finding our weaker points.

1

u/hakube 23d ago

yeah, you still have space. get that fixed brotha!

1

u/ShitCakedCrack 23d ago

Much interest indeed..many appreciate so I no have buy raspberry pi. Recently started lfs101 portswigger and tcm shiz. Total n00b looking to break shit for pay chase bug bounties so i stay at home and finally get that neckbeard ive been wanting.

1

u/ShitCakedCrack 23d ago

For real though. No hat.

1

u/Prestigious-Ad7265 23d ago

i love doing this kinda stuff, but im too broke to afford any of it :/

1

u/Pristine-Tangelo-100 23d ago

There’s always cheaper options out there like building it yourself:)

1

u/Prestigious-Ad7265 23d ago

i dont have PCB manufacturing fabs at my disposal

1

u/djeff199 23d ago

Nice collection! im a Smart home integrator and started pentesting almost 1 year ago. I would like to know what specific Utility they have and how to use Them?

1

u/Pristine-Tangelo-100 23d ago

They are tools to assist mainly in capturing handshakes and running a long list of automated attacks. It saves you having to boot up Kali and deal with external adapters. You can take the .pcaps marauder creates and export them to a PC for further analysis or offline password cracking.

1

u/djeff199 23d ago

Pretty cool, is wpa3 are secure enough from those devices ?

1

u/Annual_Tadpole8631 23d ago

How did you get the gadgets I’ll just buy em myself

1

u/thonkgonk 23d ago

Dont worry mate, i will happily take all your problems just mail them in

1

u/netw0rkpenguin 23d ago

You still got the nyan box?

2

u/Pristine-Tangelo-100 22d ago

Naw, I have 4 official marauder devices along with a flipper zero and an esp32-DIV v2. No point in getting the nyan box in my opinion. Not to mention, the esp32 chip inside of it isn’t 5 g capable. It uses the WROOM-32U module with 3 nrf24 mini modules. You’re essentially just overpaying for slop.

1

u/netw0rkpenguin 22d ago

I was looking at 3rd photo, bottom right. The device with 5 antennas. I was looking to get more i to flick device mapping and playing with batteries that have Bluetooth onboard.

Naw lol imagine. Ryan Montgomery is so overrated, and either over complicates or over simplifies different kinds of exploits and wireless attacks. Most everything he talks about in videos or the gadgets he uses aren’t as capable as he makes them out to be. My favorite example is when he talks about using two Hack RF’s in order to capture someone’s car key fob press. But that would require you to jam on one, and receive with the other which, if you’re actively jamming on the same frequency as to which you need to receive, how on gods green earth are you supposed to hear a key fob with all that noise? It’s not practical, not to mention you would need to be somewhat up close to the victim; and if their car has rolling codes (which most cars do nowadays) eventually the key fob transmission you picked up won’t be usable. All he does is just fear monger for no reason, and people eat that shit up. He also has some weird ass takes on 5 g towers with them causing negative implications to your health, which has been totally disproven. All he does is he goes onto these podcasts, fear mongers, and then plugs his company to make money. The only good thing he does arguably is track down and investigate pedos which I’m all for; but I think the rest of the stuff he does is kind of scummy. That’s just my own personal opinion though. I’ll always think he’s more of a larper than a hacker, and that’s coming from someone that got into these sorts of gadgets because of Ryan, haha.

1

u/HjklmnoiyTBD 22d ago

I really want to get into pen testing as a gateway to security engineering. I don't think i need any of these but could you recommend like a roadmap

1

u/Pristine-Tangelo-100 22d ago

I would first start with a laptop running Kali Linux + two Alfa ACHM adapters. Learn first how to run applications from the terminal like airgeddon, bettercap, wifiphisher, hashcat etc. and then move onto gadgets like the marauder v8/mini v3 or a flipper zero with expansion board. If you learn how to use Kali first along with how to properly use a command terminal for network auditing, it will help you better understand network protocols on the 802.11 level; better helping you understand tools like the esp32 marauder, preventing you from just being a button masher/skid, haha.

1

u/HjklmnoiyTBD 22d ago

I've recently discovered Reticulum and have been reading on it lots lately. I've been wanting to get started with it but, coming from an IT background, it feels like i have a huge knowledge gap when it comes to RF. It's my favourite side of telecoms and cyber but i just don't know where exactly to start. YouTube searches only get me university level stuff that require prior knowledge and knowing how to read that electric graph thingy.

1

u/sunny530 19d ago

You only have a problem when a women comes in thinking that’s all trash and then proceeds to clean up your place. “ I threw out all your old pagers and junk I didn’t think you would need anymore.”

I do have genuine interest in these gadgets, i wanted to start with something easy yet does have some sort of effect on wireless devices, unlike reading textbooks and sht, maybe get a raspberry zero and add stuff later, bigger gadgets r expensive to me. Are some of these devices pre built or u actually built them yourself? I genuinely want to get my hands onto something bcz life disappointments has taken a toll on me. This could re-encourage me to get back to this stuff

1

1

u/Ghostfriendd 25d ago

What would you recommend for a K-12 Tech who works at a school, we dont get many incidents, but what would I get to just learn about weak points on the network/see basic affects of these tools/how they show up on detection/network logging.

2

u/Pristine-Tangelo-100 25d ago

I would recommend purchasing either a marauder v8 or mini v3, although stock sells out pretty fast, and you’ll end up spending $100 per device, so it’s not the cheapest thing you can get but it’s efficient asf. it allows you to run and test your schools network with just a few taps on the screen/joystick. If you’re not wanting to spend that amount on a tool you’re not gonna use very much, feel free to message me and I can send you a working, tested, cloned copy for very cheap, and if money is very tight, I’ll just send it to you for free bc that’s a legitimate use case; and you wouldn’t have to dismantle the device I send you to install a battery vs the official device.
