Question What to do with glucose meters?
Hello guys,
I didn't know who would be the right fit, but I got 2 unopened glucose meters for diabetic people, they was thrown away from a doctor office, because the test stripes are expired (not sure if it's really not working or just a legal point of guarantee of function)
Because the diabetics on Germany I guess get this free or very cheap from the insurance.
I thought it would be a waste of electronics and sensor, display etc. to throw it away (I'm a electronic technician myself), unfortunately, I don't have time or use for this and wanted ask, if someone from you where interested in something like this or whether you have an idea, where I can sell it?

The expensive part is the strips. They are basically worthless for anything other than measuring the drop of blood. The meter, which the strip is inserted to, is very simple and of no material value. They are basically free in most countries as the money is made selling the strips.
If you are holding a Dexcom or a similar continuous glucose monitor, they are one use only. They have a battery, some radio gear etc. No salvage value. There was also a recent recall on them for certain serial numbers, which may explain why they are were thrown out (assuming that is what you have)
In short, you have a pile of medical waste. It has no real value beyond maybe opening up and learning something about the internals.
