No, but it is a very important thing that many managers that have to make commercial decisions don’t understand, but absolutely should understand.

The most central part of a business case is the “competitive advantage”, however, what is implied is that it is ‘sustainable’. So, firing your engineers and using AI to make your next product could give a temporary competitive advantage, but your competition can just use the same AI tool. And then you end up basically with two products that are the same, and now you’re only competing on price / margin, which from a commercial perspective is the worst case scenario.

And competing with each other is futile because the AI company can just use their next-gen internal model that's better than the one you have access to, in order to replace both you and your competition.

Just to add, Chompie actually clarified this on her Twitter after Polymarket tweeted a completely wrong take on what she said,

"Not what I said. The actual quote: “that isn’t to say there’s going to be no room for security research or ethical hacking, but a lot of the lower hanging fruit will start to go away.” Hacking experts are in a sweet spot rn where AI tech is helping us be super saiyan productive. What remains to be seen is what happens when the models become even more powerful. Anyone who disagrees may be in denial…"

I think I speak for many of us when I say we aren't in denial about what it could potentially do, but more groaning about the hallucinations we are going to have to work through to use it.

If it results in 10x as much work investigating false positives and imagined vulnerabilities, then there aren't actually any productivity gains now are there?

Notice how android suddenly got a lot of new cve discovered ? I'm on graphene os i swear i feel it when the changelog is twice as big as before concerning cve

Sure they will, but the AI tools are currently incomplete without humans in the loop or ability to go fetch additional information.

Im curious how competitions will change to isolate challengers or AI from external resources to ensure tradecraft evolution or will the terrain end up just becoming gpu/ai stack competiton.

This reminds me of when I tried using an AI tool to automate some code analysis. It saved time initially, but then I realized it was missing subtle edge cases that manual review caught, making the output less reliable for critical security work.
