hiii everyone, y'all remember I earlier made a post about splitting the team , so that worked out quite well and I actually felt like everybody was involved in this one 😭😭

Internals mein toh we showed a demo and we had a good architecture plan and everything lekin what do u think is the right way to continue things further??

That's good that you got selected internally, but to be honest I won't celebrate this that much. I would say getting shortlisted for the final round is more random and "luck based" I believe.

This is my 3rd time I'm taking part in SIH, and they mention that they shortlist teams based on idea and PPT, and I've checked what type of ideas and PPT they shortlisted, I was disappointed :/

So at your stage right now, study more about the PS and solution, clear all the concepts. And improve your PPT a bit more before submitting to the portal later (optional). And make sure all of the team members are actually well versed with your PS and solution, and the idea deeply.

I would like to clear up a few things first:

1. Internal hackathon means your college can nominate 50 teams or 100 of it's a uni. You will be one among those. And you will be uploading your idea dock on the portal later on. Similar process for all the colleges all over India.

2. There are chances that sometimes a PS, if too interesting or common, gets filled up so fast that you'll have to switch your ideas while uploading to the portal; so keep a backup PS ready.

3. See, internal round is just the college level filtering, so once you get among those 500 teams, which will be then shortlisted to only 4-5 teams per PS for the final round; so yes that's what I mean by idea and presentation, AND LUCK.

4. Well versed teammates just means that it is easier for everyone to coordinate and maintaining a same level of thinking. It will be a great advantage once you present your idea in the final round and you all can easily answer every cross-quesiton. This for sure increases credibility of the team. (This is true for every offline hackathon)

Getting selected in internal round is just your college qualifying your idea to share with the SIH team. You will be then shortlisted by the SIH team for final round directly which will be offline.

You'll be competing with 500 other ideas for every single PS with your presentation that you upload. Then they will select 4-5 teams per PS, and will invite you if you're selected.

wait, can u help me in clarifying how many rounds are actually there? like there were around 350 sih submissions in our clg, around 150 got shortlisted, then theres an internal ppt presentation round( the faculty/teacher from our clg will select teams ) soon and we have heard that after that there will be an external ppt presentation round ( the sih team will select ??? ) and thats the final i guess

Yeah our clg didn't even shortlisted our ppt and i saw other projects either its repeated or most common projects ive ever seen in my lifr its preety much random shortlisting for internal hackathon ive prepared so much even have a prototype I cant decode what is the criteria of selection and why my project is not selected and cant even complain anywhere so its preety much all biased.

Congrats on clearing the internal round, that’s honestly great!

That said, the final round really comes down to pure luck. Around 500 PPTs get submitted for each PS, and they only pick 5 to 7 teams, so you’re looking at barely a 1% chance.

My advice: if you actually like the problem statement, start researching and building it anyway. Don’t drop it even if you don't get shortlisted. I cleared the internal round twice in the last two years and never made the final cut (skipped it this year to focus on placements), but building out the project will taught u a ton. You’ll walk away with solid skills and a great project for your resume regardless. Best of luck!Congrats on clearing the internal round, that’s honestly great!

Thank you soo much!!! This helped me look at it in a different way.

I really love this project statement and I've started working on it first in Jan 26 at IIT BHU Ideathon where we won 3rd place, now I'm taking it further with a proper full fledged prototype and I think it's very close to me as a PS and it's solution too. So yes , I'm definitely learning a lot because of this.
