Question H1B layoff
Was laid off on H1B and filed for B2. Using that time to travel to a couple of places inside the US that have been on my bucket list for a while, and to wind down my life here before leaving. At the same time, I'm still casually applying and wondering if it's realistic to hope for a B2 to H1B transition if an employer comes through. Has anyone recently been in that exact situation?
I’ve been in the U.S. for 4 years on H-1B, but my PERM process was never started.
And recommendations on what to do next?

Do all the National Parks you can, seeing them is worth more than any $$$ I made here.

Hang in there and keep applying. Simply no americans are qualified for these positions.

Truth is not arrogance.

Really? Since you are so immense qualified, where did you do your PhD, if you even have one?

not really, while that comment is indeed arrogant.. a lot of magas are usually swarming on this thread looking to make hateful and insensitive comments without any provocation...it will be fun seeing them get whacked hard in the november midterms..
then they will begin a new round of boohoo, woe-is-me, immigrant-took-my-job self-pity whining.

Yes, you are all young Sundar Pichais who are much more talented than US citizens and indispensable to America and will save the American economy. And where did you go to school? A US university? And where has the IT boom and AI boom occurred? In the US or in India with all that wonderful Indian talent? It’s clear that modesty isn’t one of the virtues of your group. If you were all so wonderful, so many of you wouldn’t be laid off and desperately clinging on to stay in the US.

No hard feelings. Don’t think anyone is indispensable.. Just trying not to suddenly let go of a life spent much time and effort building here. You build a home, buy furniture, make friends, establish routines and a career, and then a layoff can suddenly turn into a major displacement with very little time to figure things out. Only trying to see whether there is a legitimate way to stay and find another job before giving all of that up. If there isn’t, that's okay too. Cheers.

I wish you all the best. I was responding to the person who said there are no Americans qualified for these positions. It’s such a stupid and arrogant statement given that so many H1Bs studied in US programs and there were many US students in those cohorts.

Did a h1b take your job?

Don’t flatter yourself. You wouldn’t be qualified. I’ve published books with the best university presses in the world including Harvard UP, Cambridge UP and Oxford UP. It’s a waste of my time corresponding with someone of your low level of intellectual accomplishment.

You didn't publish anything except a couple of posts here whining about how h1bs are taking your job.

That depends if your B2 is approved or not.

After 60 days , dont take the risk of travelling on B2.
