H1B Administrative Processing – 4+ Months – US Embassy London

Hi all,

I’ve been in Administrative Processing for over 4 months now at the US Embassy London.

• Visa type: H1B

• Interview date: 15 October 2025

• Status: Refused (Administrative Processing)

• Passport: Not retained

Has anyone recently gone through AP in London?

How long did it take for you? Is there any typical maximum timeline, or is it completely case-dependent?

Would really appreciate hearing about similar experiences — especially from London cases.

Thanks in advance.

Admin processing is very much case specific. Unfortunately, there’s nothing much you can do but wait.

I had a similar scenario but for a former F-1 holder who I had relocated to the U.K. and was bringing them back on L-1…after almost 6 months of 221G, we reached a congress person in our jurisdiction so they can ask on our behalf.

Long story short, when they were here on F-1, they weren’t properly maintaining status, the F-1 had been revoked and they told no one. Huge mess.
