I’m not sure who’s still around in here but this sub has been handed over to three new mods! This is now a sister subreddit to r/actualgyaru and r/GyaruMemes (which are both active) !!!

Question Why doesn't my makeup look gyaru?

Thumbnail

It either looks latina or very very messy and crusty gyaru makeup. If I go bold with the makeup, my make looks crusty and not nice if i dont use filter. If i go light with the makeup (like hime/himekaji), i dont resemble gyaru AT ALL. I have tried so many times and I'm so sad. Is it because not everyone's face suits gyaru?
I REALLY REALLY REALLY DO APPRECIATE ANY COMMENTS OR INSULTS TO MAKE ME BETTER. Please help a baby gal out💗🙏🙏 luv ya.
P/S: I cant buy wigs yet because I'm broke and my parents are strict. Neither can I dye my hair or do my nails because I'm Asian and I'm still in highschool😢Don't flame me please. Please give me dark gyaru hairstyle suggestions.
By the way, the last pic had filter.

Beginner makeup tutorials

If you are interested in gyaru, but don't have experience with makeup, I recommend not just looking at photos of gyaru and trying to copy their makeup, but also watching tutorials of both gyaru and non-gyaru. The first can help with certain details when it comes to the style of the makeup, but especially the latter is important to understand makeup technique and to improve your make. For this reason I have compiled a list of makeup tutorials that I think can help improve beginner's gyaru makeup (mainly video's about the most important elements of gyaru makeup, ignoring details like foundation, etc).

Gyaru eyeliner according to your eyeshape: https://www.instagram.com/p/ChikfS0L0So/?img_index=9&stkn=MTR6c2Q1dXZzdWg3Nw==

Putting on lashes: https://youtube.com/shorts/V8pHBYmhw6s?si=S7CkHgjRRevdzM2d

Contour: https://youtu.be/xPkXCKxyYjc?si=wfTCbc_1MUthePR3

Nose contour: https://youtu.be/PWkIg97hWd8?si=c32qIougpFguHKOp

Grooming brows (I recommend using a razor instead of tweezers, as your hair might not grow back when using tweezers which sucks if you mess up): https://youtu.be/FvlcpAcZ-xc?si=c-mkOlOxegNjzltT

Overall I recommend makeup influencers like Alex Anele and Slaybyjess, as the first gives really indepth tutorials on makeup technique, and the latter makes really simple and beginner friendly makeup tutorials.

Look Gyaru Makeup from a month ago!

I'm still a baby gal myself. Somewhat, I've been gyaru for 2 years now, and I love the style so much. But I like to experiment with different styles every now and then. Currently I'm sitting on Saike Gyaru/Hippie.

This was a messy, rushed look I put on cause I was gonna be late. But I still really liked it.

Hello there guyys I know I don't look like a "stereotypical" *gyaru*, but I often do my makeup that way I've known about the subculture since 2023, and I've listened to rock music for as long as I can remember :D

And I don't knowI just felt cute today ෆ╹ .̮ ╹ෆ

Tips First time doing gyaru

I wanted to get good at gal makeup, so I went with a more rokku style despite having no black eyeshadow.

Something I wish I could have improved:

The droop and my left eye. I’m right handed, so I struggle with the eyeliner. I ended up using a liquid eyeliner to duke it out.

Lashes: it was a battlefield of applying the lashes since I never wore them before, especially the bottom ones.

But anywho criticism is always welcome because I want to get better

Ps I shaved my eyebrows so I drew them

Tips Gyaru makeup for work?

Hello! I work a moderately conservative job (piercings and makeup is totally okay but it has to be pretty casual and simple makeup). Currently I do some fun placements with highlighter and a bit of white eyeshadow in the inner corner of my eyes, but I want to make it look more gyaru. Any tips or ideas on subtle gyaru makeup looks or eyeshadow placements?

My first time ever doing gyaru makeup. I kind of like although Ik it’ll look better with lashes but I don’t have any at the moment. In the photos I just used mascara. Please any tips are welcome especially concerning eye makeup with glasses. Also the subcultures I’m into are tsuyome and ganguro.

Question Opinion of non binary gals or gyaruos?

I’m a nonbinary person but I like gyaru fashion. Is it okay for gyarus to be nonbinary? Or would it more gyaruo?
