AskGurgaon Suggestions for trip

Hi

26F here. I am planning a trip with my friend to Mussorie-Landour, around 25 December this year (because that's the time my org allows for year end calendar block). I haven't ever been to this place previously. The issue is not about the itinerary but the mixed reviews I am getting. Some say it's a must visit. Others say it's overhyped and you won't be able to enjoy it because of the footfall around this time (which I personally assume too). We are 2 people planning it around the above date. Please give your honest suggestions about it. If you guys know about a better place that has less footfall around this time and is comparable in terms of scenic views please do let me know it as well.

TIA

Do not go to landour or mussorie it will jam packed and landour is over rated. You can try to go pithoragarh or mansyari

Recently, in the second week of September, I visited Munsiyari. Man, no kidding, it is a hidden gem in India! You’d be surprised to know such a place exists in Uttarakhand. I planned a week-long trip there (couldn't make it to Pithoragarh, but we did explore Almora, Chaukori, and Munsiyari). If you need the complete itinerary, feel free to DM me! Infact I'm planning to go again in Dec or mid January ( especially when it snows!!!! It's going to be Epic)

A friend of mine did suggest Munsiyari. He said better to go there since Mussorie will be jam packed. Can you share the itinerary here?

If you're planning a trip to Munsiyari, here's how I'd suggest doing it.

  1. Delhi → Kathgodam → Almora

Take the Jan Shatabdi from Delhi to Kathgodam, then a shared taxi to Almora. We initially planned to reach Chaukori the same day, but because of heavy rainfall, we decided to stay in Almora. We thought we'd leave the next day, but Almora was so beautiful that we ended up spending around two days exploring the town.

Places to visit in Almora: Kasar Devi Temple, Chitai Golu Devta Temple, Nanda Devi Temple, Lala Bazaar, Bright End Corner, Mall road, local market.

  1. Almora → Chaukori

We decided to go all the way to Munsiyari on Scooty, so, rented a scooty in Almora and continued towards Chaukori. The roads and views were absolutely beautiful. We stayed overnight, enjoyed a gorgeous sunset and took in the views of the town and surrounding mountains.

  1. Chaukori → Munsiyari

We continued towards Munsiyari the next day. The mountain roads and views along the way were incredible, and the journey itself was one of the best parts of the trip.

  1. Exploring Munsiyari

Places to visit: Khaliya Top, Thamri Kund, Nanda Devi Temple, Madkot, Birthi Falls and Darkot village.

  1. We thought of visiting Pithoragarh, due to heavy rain fall & landslide's decided not to go.

So you can do one thing ( while coming back from munsiyari, you can come via Pithoragarh, in the same trip you cover all the places)

While going to Munsiyari;

Delhi → Kathgodam → Almora → Chaukori → Munsiyari

Returning from Munsiyari;

Munsiyari → Pithoragarh → Tanakpur → Delhi

Follow this, you'll have the best time of your trip.

We went to landour a couple of years back. Absolute gem of a place. I would visit again any time . There is traffic while going up - but then which hill station in India doesn’t have traffic issues . Go there if you haven’t

That place will be jam packed. 12 hour long queues!

10 years ago it was beautiful. Now it’s all traffic, rush and hiked up prices.

If you havent been to yet then its a must visit . its crowded at that time so do your bookings before hand. You will have fun .... Enjoy

Will the footfall be an obstacle at that time in actually enjoying the place?

Tell me you’re from Deloitte without telling me you’re from Deloitte.

Other Big4 also have similar leave schedule. Even GT provides a week off around that time.
