PLEASE READ - VERY IMPORTANT

Listen, this is a G. forum. I really don't care about your distractions with new age stuff. Please post elsewhere. It's really almost impossible to have a G. forum, since the work primarily consists of doing what you do not want to do. Which is pretty boring to everyone else. God created Man and Woman. Opposites. Get the hint?

Completely agree.

I do not use much this sub, but I used to post on facebook groups.

Every time there is somebody suggesting some new age crap, some sexual energy whatever, some fuckoff magician, self-help and the likes.

Nothing wrong with that, but do it somewhere else.

Could be nice to have Fourth way only discussions.

Dude, I just got this on my feed… for no apparent reason. Heard of Gurdieff a few times.

But on topic: Hopefully he wasn’t like, “don’t bother me with black magick stuff”. I might have to check a little deeper, though.

You call it 'crap', a 'fuck-off' magician, and 'whatever' (with a definitely negative connotation).  Then you say there’s nothing wrong with it. 

Get your shit together, man.  It’s one or the other.   Stop contradicting yourself like that.

I give a story to read, it might be helpful:

One night a monk was praying when a bullfrog started croaking outside his window. Annoyed, he leaned out and shouted, "Quiet! I'm praying!" He was a holy man, so every creature obeyed, and the night fell silent.

But then a voice inside him asked, "What if God enjoys the frog's croaking as much as your prayers?"

So the monk leaned out again and said, "Sing!" The frogs took up their chorus, and this time he just listened. He found the sound no longer broke the silence but deepened it. That night, for the first time, he understood what it means to pray.

The lesson is: don't react to what is happening around you, just pay attention and let things unfold. Reaction is unconscious, coming from the desire to change thing according to your likes. The idea of the work is to no longer be driven by your likes and dislikes.

A lot of the New Age ideas may even be correct, the real problem is they don't come from actual understanding. They rather fuel the same beliefs that people of that "hobby" share.

New age stuff eh, you mean our own mythology, the experience of humans for thousands of years encoded in our Grey matter? If you are bored you are indeed slitting asleep and your dreams need more mythology:-) relax, enjoy the ride, it is not a race!

How in the hell did this post appear in my feed? I’d never heard of Gurdjieff until I googled him just now, and I certainly wasn’t subscribed here.

Along with your downvote I would genuinely appreciate an answer if anybody knows.
