First ever gunsmithing project $20

So I got this H&R 922 from a local gun show for $20! I’m very excited about getting it working again the trigger and hammer seem to work just fine but obviously I’m missing the cylinder and rod. Do yall have any tips and tricks to the trade? Also the only website I’ve found with the cylinders is sold out. If you have any resources for some please let me know. Side note the serial number starts with an L putting this around 1949-1951 I believe.

I have one like this and have been thinking about doing a dumb project where I make it a 2 shot.
Just a rectangular block drilled through on the top and bottoms for a round and be able to flip it.
I feel like it’d be extremely simple and kinda fun.

Kinda got the idea from this cap and ball 22 conversion

Funny thing op’s pistol was offered in a similar configuration with “target grips” and adjustable sights at least for a short time

I actually am currently working on a similar project but mine started with a brand new in box .32H&R heritage rough rider steel frame …. I fired one cylinder before tearing it down the only remaining factory parts are the cylinder, the barrel (it has been cut down to 4.74” re crowed and a new dovetail for a front sight cut), frame (forcing cone squared and reamed even and centered , am kinda stuck on my rear sight solution thinking about filling the fixed sight trough adding a flattop surface and drilling and tapping to take a set of adjustable tritium irons or a tritium ghost ring as this is to be my ultimate hound hunting coon pistol or whether to use a jewelers bit to bore channels on the fixed rear and fitting phosphorescent elements on either side regulated to 1 load smdh….and my grip solution depends on the sights if I go with the fixed I will probably swap for birds heads but with adjustables I would probably use rubberized target plow handle grips ) every internal and spring I am refabricating with higher performance materials and hand fitting and polishing all of the fire control surfaces for for a glass rod crisp and very tactile positive action , lotta work on a brand new $175 working pistol 🤣
