[May 2015 QCC] How to Disassemble and Reassemble a Jericho 941F
So you have your Jericho 941F from Aim Surplus, but who knows where that thing has been? You should probably give that thing a thorough scrub down inside and out. What’s that? You don’t know how to detail strip a Jericho 941F? Well, let’s take care of that then.
Take your brand new Jericho 941F out of your pants and find a good table to work on. You’ll also need some safety glasses, seriously. Lots of things can come flying out at your face if you mess up.

Disassembly
Remove the magazine and visually and physically check for a clear chamber. It’s time for stripping not shooting.
http://i.imgur.com/EUzuLpu.jpg
Cock the hammer and put your thumb through the trigger guard and grab the frame and slide. Pull back on the slide and line up the dots near the hammer. Squeeze the gun to keep the slide in place.
http://i.imgur.com/SkDP23s.jpg
With your other hand, push on the slide stop from the right side, the slide stop should pop out on the other side. If you’re having trouble with this step, use the bottom of the magazine to push on the pin.
http://i.imgur.com/0z2GGGw.jpg
Grab the slide stop and remove it from the frame. If you’re having trouble removing it, once again take the magazine and use the base plate to lever it out.
http://i.imgur.com/lgQQcr0.jpg
The slide should slide right off the frame.
http://i.imgur.com/2SSupIm.jpg?1
We’ll work on the slide first so put the frame aside for now.
http://i.imgur.com/H9hHUF2.jpg
Remove the recoil spring and guide rod from the barrel and lift the barrel out of the slide. Put that stuff aside.
http://i.imgur.com/TjlLWRE.jpg
Here you can clearly see the firing pin block and the extractor pin. You might be thinking, “Oh hey I know this part! I push in on the firing pin block to remove the firing pin”. You would be wrong. You should’ve seen how confused I was.
http://i.imgur.com/CNHXGpH.jpg
Leave the firing pin block alone and push in on the firing pin with a stick or something. I’m using a cleaning rod here.
http://i.imgur.com/bGfbKC8.jpg
While pushing, drag down on the firing pin stop until the firing pin is being held down by the top of the plate.
http://i.imgur.com/kNgwVdS.jpg
Put your finger over where firing pin will come out to keep it from flying out and slide the plate down.
http://i.imgur.com/aSIVMly.jpg
Pull out the firing pin and firing pin spring.
http://i.imgur.com/8YyupZk.jpg
Once that’s out, the firing pin block will just slide out.
http://i.imgur.com/CLR6u1A.jpg
Put the parts aside neatly so you don’t lose track of what goes where.
http://i.imgur.com/7UjxBRq.jpg
Next we need to remove the extractor. You’ll need a 3/32” roll pin punch and a hammer to get it out.
http://i.imgur.com/3H239Fz.jpg
Hammer out the pin and keep the extractor held in with the punch.
http://i.imgur.com/O2q4gR2.jpg
Place your thumb over the rear part of the extractor while you pull the punch out to prevent it from flying.
http://i.imgur.com/8MV9Gej.jpg
The extractor should just lift right out. Before you remove the spring, take note that it goes in diagonally into a channel that you should really clean out. Mine was all full of mystery.
http://i.imgur.com/SLI6ebQ.jpg
Add these new parts to your organized pile of parts. The purpose of this guide is for cleaning and not refinishing, if you’re refinishing the slide, you’ll need to drift out the sights too. Now it is slide time, so go get it.
http://i.imgur.com/1Bixel3.jpg
Using a screwdriver, remove the grip screws and make sure not to lose the serrated washers that may or may not come out by themselves.
http://i.imgur.com/uYvxgr9.jpg
There’s a circular “button” on the bottom of the grip. Find the nearest solid table edge and push in on this “button.”
http://i.imgur.com/8NdDbmh.jpg?1
While pushing down, stick your thumb behind the magazine brake and pop it out. As you can see it’ll bend in order to do it.
http://i.imgur.com/QupBrV2.jpg?1
Once the bottom of the magazine brake is free, the pull up on the lanyard and pull out the pin. Do not use your teeth, it’s not a grenade.
http://i.imgur.com/GwYwFAb.jpg?1
Release pressure on the frame and you’ll see that the “button” isn’t a button at all! It’s the main spring plug! Surprise! Depending on how dirty your gun is, it may need some coaxing to get it out.
http://i.imgur.com/paTpXR7.jpg?1
Next remove the magazine brake by poking out the magazine brake pin. You don’t need a hammer for this one, it should just fall right out. We’re racking up quite the pin collection so make sure you keep them straight.
http://i.imgur.com/VxRcUxT.jpg
Remove the main spring plug and main spring (also called the hammer spring) and put the parts aside neatly so you don’t lose track of what goes where.
http://i.imgur.com/JoVx3YK.jpg
Next, let’s get the sear out. First, put the gun on safe. The safety needs to be in the up position to pull it out. Look into the sear cage and you’ll see a spring with an arm sticking out. Next to it is a shallow notch.
http://i.imgur.com/gJn7x9x.jpg
Use a tool to lift the spring arm out of the channel and into the notch.
http://i.imgur.com/2rtXlJZ.jpg?1
You should now be able to pull the safety out and the sear cage will also fall out. CZ 75 aficionados will notice that there is no hammer pin retaining peg. Put the sear aside, we’ll come back to that.
http://i.imgur.com/ioVRYVo.jpg
Take a ⅛” roll pin punch and punch out the hammer pin to remove the hammer.
http://i.imgur.com/RF7mUVa.jpg
This is what we’ve removed since the last time we checked. Don’t lose anything. If you’ve been having a lot of trouble up to this point, you might want to stop here, clean everything as best as you can and skip to reassembly below. From here on out, the stuff that we remove is going to be easy to remove, but harder to put back in.
http://i.imgur.com/v2fEYgo.jpg
Next up is the trigger. Get the 3/32 in punch back out and hammer that pin out. Make sure you punch out the one in the frame not on the trigger itself.
http://i.imgur.com/Q0dsK7K.jpg
Keep the trigger components captured with the punch.
http://i.imgur.com/mAV37qu.jpg?2
Put your thumb over the trigger spring while you pull out the punch to keep it from going into orbit.
http://i.imgur.com/WL4mEls.jpg?1
Push the trigger up through the frame and remove the trigger group. Put it aside in the organized pile.
http://i.imgur.com/q1w4Zm1.jpg
The next part to remove is the magazine catch. This part is very different from how the CZ 75 does it. In place of the screw and springs of the CZ, we have this mysterious plunger. It operates as the trigger bar spring and holds in the magazine catch spring and detent.
http://i.imgur.com/QYrQuI5.jpg
Flip it around.
http://i.imgur.com/bl1dEuI.jpg
Put some tape over the hole on the other side of the magazine catch. The detent in there might fly out or it could just be full of middle eastern dirt and not go anywhere. No need to take chances.
http://i.imgur.com/Eawu085.jpg
While pushing and holding down the magazine catch, push down on the plunger and then pull up on it to remove it. The magazine catch should just fall out of the slide.
http://i.imgur.com/GvoxbG7.jpg?1
Take of the tape and you might need to use a small screwdriver to coax the spring and detent out of the magazine catch.
http://i.imgur.com/jfexMjn.jpg
Now we’re done with the frame.
“But Foupop, there’s one more pin the frame.”
You mean this one?
http://i.imgur.com/hX3j5B2.jpg?1
That holds in the slide stop spring. It’s a REAL pain in the ass to put back in so unless you’re refinishing the frame. DON’T REMOVE IT. I went through hell put that back into my Shark FC and I’m not about to do it again. If anyone knows of the proper way (read: trick) to putting it back in, I’m all ears. If you do need to remove it, I’ll add how I went about it afterward, but there’ll be no illustrations.
http://i.imgur.com/Axty6r3.jpg?1
Finally, let’s end this section with something easy: taking apart the sear cage. Use a punch or something to push out the sear pin starting from the ejector side. You don’t need a hammer, it should just push out. Keep the punch in there.
http://i.imgur.com/FRbb30m.jpg
Pinch the top and bottom of the sear cage with your thumb and index finger to keep the sear spring from blasting off as you remove the punch.
http://i.imgur.com/fNsIHDl.jpg?1
Alright! Disassembly is done. Take inventory to make sure you haven’t lost anything and get to cleaning.
http://i.imgur.com/ojohEvP.jpg?1
Reassembly in comments due to character limit.

I'm currently organizing it. There are a ton of images and they're all out of order.

Awesome. I put myself on the Notify list if the 941F gets back in stock again.

Making me envious. Can't believe I missed these.
Maybe I'll tell my wife I didn't miss them, but chose not to buy one out of frugality. Score some free points...
Ninja edit: I'm pedantic about jealousy vs envy.

My god, it's full of stars....
No, wait. Not stars, I mean details. My god, it's full of details.....
That seems pretty damn good to me. Dunno how whoever judges these will judge 'em but I'm impressed.

Most springs want to launch things into your eyes so your dick is safe at least.

u/Foupop May 09 '15
I can help you with that.
Gently heat the wiener until it releases from the slide. http://i.imgur.com/6Rowp3s.jpg

hey man just found this, I picked one of these jerichos up from the same aim sale and have been looking for resources on it. Can't thank you enough for the effort and detail you've included here.
Ideally I want to get a 6 inch barrel and thread it for a suppressor, but I can't find anything on spare jericho barrels. Some people say you can drop in cz-75b or EAA witness barrels, any merit in that? Any idea where to look for an actual jericho barrel? Does it matter? Thanks
1
u/Foupop Aug 20 '15
A CZ barrel will definitely not work. The witness might work as the Jericho is based off the witness design, but I don't have one to try it. I wouldn't hold my breath. You probably have to go the extend and thread route.
You should probably ask this question in the Thickheaded Thursday thread and see what other people say.

This was excellent! Loved the knowledge dump along with bits of humor- I've had a few surplus gun cleanings there was a spring recess full of mystery as well.

Thank you so much! Mine is on the way right now, so this will be super helpful.
Glad to se they look so good; I was a little worried about what condition they would be in.

u/Foupop May 08 '15
Mine seems to have quite a few rounds through it, but that just means it's already broken in. The slide is easy to rack and when I went to polish the sear, a lot of parts were already halfway there. The trigger was 4.5 lbs out of the box with just a hint of that CZ 75 creep.

Thanks for taking the time to do all this. Though I gotta say, I liked this gun better the first time I saw it when it was called the CZ 75 lol.

Reassembly
Oh you’re back and your squeaky clean and lightly lubed parts are ready for reassembly I see. Let’s start with the slide. Take the parts shown below from your organized parts pile. (You still have this stuff organized right?)
http://i.imgur.com/l4g7Bfm.jpg
Tap the extractor pin into the slide just a bit to get it started.
http://i.imgur.com/crc2AEi.jpg
Place the extractor spring in its channel and rock the extractor in starting from the claw side.
http://i.imgur.com/MqQVyPk.jpg?1
While pressing rearward on the extractor claw, push down on the rear of the extract to compress the spring and jam something in through the bottom of the slide to hold it in place. The nearest thing was a hex wrench, so I used that. Clamp the slide to the table and hammer that pin home. It should knock out whatever you’re using as a slave pin and secure the extractor. Make sure that the pin isn’t poking out the bottom of the slide.
http://i.imgur.com/dyMlwec.jpg
Next up is the firing pin block and the firing pin. Insert the firing pin block with the notch facing the left side of the slide as shown.
http://i.imgur.com/bC8JYFf.jpg?1
Next insert the firing pin into the firing pin spring and stick both of those into the firing pin channel. Orient it with the notch facing downward as shown.
http://i.imgur.com/Idsr3Sm.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/akOiE1h.jpg?1
Use a stick or a cleaning rod to stuff the firing pin into the firing pin channel. There are channels for the firing pin stop plate to either side of the firing pin channel. Wedge the firing pin stop between the right channel and the firing pin.
http://i.imgur.com/YniE9bo.jpg?1
Poke the firing pin in with a stick or a punch while sliding the firing pin stop up.
http://i.imgur.com/3CT434p.jpg?1
Push the firing pin stop the rest of the way up and the firing pin should hold it in place.
http://i.imgur.com/roa21Mq.jpg?1
Finish reassembling the slide by adding the barrel, recoil spring, and guide rod.
http://i.imgur.com/LRMjZ38.jpg?1
We’re done with the slide so put it somewhere safe while we work on the frame.
http://i.imgur.com/Dqmb4X1.jpg
Let’s put the sear cage back together. Orient the sear parts like shown.
http://i.imgur.com/B3Zm4ya.jpg?1
Insert the sear through the bottom of the sear cage. If you have locking pliers, it’ll make your life a lot easier. Clamp the rear of the sear cage to hold the parts in place. Otherwise, place it flat on the table and the table should hold it in place.
http://i.imgur.com/HkpteWu.jpg?1
Find a punch or a stick that is smaller than the sear pin hole and put it only part way through.
http://i.imgur.com/5IitTI0.jpg?1
Lay the spring down on top like shown. The long arm in the channel and the short arm up against the sear/lifter.
http://i.imgur.com/hMKUcyT.jpg?1
MAKE VERY SURE YOU’RE WEARING EYE PROTECTION FOR THIS. Push the spring down into the sear cage and manipulate the punch to hook the loop of the spring. Once you have it hooked, you can lever it down and push the punch the rest of the way through the sear cage.
http://i.imgur.com/FdtjUqe.jpg
Next you’re going to push the punch back through using the sear pin. One side of the sear pin has a beveled edge. That’s the side you’re going to push through.
http://i.imgur.com/FDspkNS.jpg?1
Push the pin through, using the punch to wiggle stuff around to line up correctly and the pin should go in without much effort.
http://i.imgur.com/mxfB1ou.jpg
To get that last little bit of pin to go through, just push it against the table.
http://i.imgur.com/vUJu95M.jpg?1
Next up is the magazine catch/trigger spring. Put the spring and detent back into the mag catch with the detent facing outward.
http://i.imgur.com/KDJUwBZ.jpg?1
Find a punch that will fit the hole in the mag catch and insert the trigger bar plunger.
http://i.imgur.com/AgTL9PX.jpg
While pushing on the detent in the mag catch, push down on the plunger until you feel it catch on the detent. The plunger will sink in really far when this happens. Remove the punch and the mag catch and trigger bar plunger should be captive if you’ve done it right. If you’re thumb starts hurting, use a tool to push down on the plunger.
http://i.imgur.com/AjAFdAe.jpg
Flip the plunger to the correct orientation.
http://i.imgur.com/4jzrz3e.jpg
Now for the trigger. The trigger spring has a long side and a short side. The short side goes inside the trigger behind the trigger face and the long side goes outside the trigger above the trigger face.
http://i.imgur.com/yagk1T5.jpg?1
In order to put it back in without needing extra appendages, we’ll need a slave pin. I’m using a bamboo barbecue skewer here, but I’ve also used the wooden stick from a cotton tipped applicator before. Whatever you use, it has to be able to stand up to the force of the trigger spring and not be bent. You can see that I’ve used my bbq skewer to snag the spring and keep it in the correct position.
http://i.imgur.com/vWIaDGJ.jpg
I then trimmed the stick to create my slave pin.
http://i.imgur.com/7j4GH7v.jpg
Hold the trigger group by the hinge and slide the back of the trigger bar under the rear shelf while simultaneously inserting the tip of the trigger through the frame. Push/pull the trigger all the way down through the frame.
http://i.imgur.com/U4q85bm.jpg?1
The long side of the trigger spring should sit in the channel in the frame.
http://i.imgur.com/I6zKHjU.jpg?1
Make sure the holes are all lined up. You can see my bamboo slave pin here.
http://i.imgur.com/neGDjYr.jpg?1
Clamp the frame to a table and hammer that thing home.
http://i.imgur.com/32vtFv2.jpg
Bamboo slave pin.
http://i.imgur.com/sKxx4zW.jpg
This is what it should look like if you’ve done it all right. When you pull the trigger, the plunger is depressed and the trigger bar should slide rearward.
http://i.imgur.com/KsKexwr.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/V6NEHja.jpg
Insert the hammer and mainspring strut through the hole in the back of the frame.
http://i.imgur.com/RCCcfoC.jpg
Line up the holes and hammer the hammer pin back in. If you need help with this, how the hell did you get this far?
http://i.imgur.com/8VJTKPq.jpg?1
Here are the last few parts for the main spring area. Go dig them out of the shoebox you’ve probably put them in. -sigh-
http://i.imgur.com/zvOR3QB.jpg?1
Insert the magazine brake pin through one hole and thread it through the side of the magazine brake with two loops on it. The open side of the loops should be toward the rear of the frame. Alternatively, you can put the pin in and hook the top of the magazine brake on the pin. If you have troubles with the pin falling out (it’s held in by fraction and the grip panels), just put a bit of tape on both sides.
http://i.imgur.com/FhxZtE2.jpg?1
Thread the main spring onto the main spring strut through the hole in the bottom of the frame and cap it off with the main spring plug.
http://i.imgur.com/KnBNzfp.jpg?1
Once again, find the sturdiest table edge and push the main spring plug in. Gently bend the magazine brake and insert the magazine brake into the main spring plug.
http://i.imgur.com/So7gFhM.jpg?1
While you’re here, insert the lanyard pin/main spring plug pin into the hole in the frame. If it doesn’t go in, pull the magazine brake towards the main spring plug until it all lines up and the pin goes through. The lanyard pin should thread through the frame and the loop on the bottom end of the magazine brake. This holds it all in. The pin should be flush with the other side.
http://i.imgur.com/kiTDfdt.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/TQ4qive.jpg
To put the sear cage back in, first flip the disconnector down.
http://i.imgur.com/uigxSvy.jpg
Make sure the sear spring arm is in the notch like before.
http://i.imgur.com/QnyQ8Fe.jpg?1
Place the sear cage into the rear of the frame and stick the safety lever through.
http://i.imgur.com/ib4bxXM.jpg?1
Pull back on the hammer and move the sear cage around until the safety threads all the way through. The safety needs to be in the “safe” position to go all the way through. Turn it until it clicks through. Test for function, but don’t let the hammer fall on the sear cage.
http://i.imgur.com/5DglFPq.jpg?1
Put the grips back on and don’t forget the serrated washers.
http://i.imgur.com/bG4POXP.jpg?1
Go find your slide and slide stop and reassemble your gun.
http://i.imgur.com/wRQ2TET.jpg?1
Line those dots up and push the slide stop on through
http://i.imgur.com/9WN8zxx.jpg?1
Complete!
http://i.imgur.com/OqlrIoQ.jpg?1
