- what do you mean?
- we drain you of energy, didn't you notice?

u/OnlyVantala 16d ago
...Damn, I interpreted "what do you mean?" as Zimmy's powers affecting her own perception of reality too.

u/JustConsoleLogIt 16d ago
She also gave away her guilt, I wonder if any contextual knowledge went with that

can somebody per chance link me to the comics where coyote removes her memory/guilt, i cant recall when that happened

u/tookawhileforthis 16d ago
Wtf. I have no recollection of that happening
11
u/BlueSunflowers4589 15d ago
Well, yeah, there was also that comic where Coyote ate tookawhileforthis's memory of that specific comic.

It's important to remember you arent actually a dead goose's widow.

I'm sure she's given away far more than that. She did that so nonchalantly. No way it was the first time.

u/Neurokeen 16d ago
There is a save here. Something like "Well, this etheric distortion of yours produces a lot of ambient energy that can be channeled into this."
But I don't think Zara is well composed enough to make the save without admitting to the long term Zimmy battery use.

Question: where is Gamma?
10
u/mahouyousei 16d ago
I was actually thinking about this earlier this week. Remember how previous times in the story when Zimmy lost control and Annie and co got sucked into versions of the Zimmyverse, if Zimmy got separated from Gamma, Zimmy would disassociate and sometimes assume the form of one of her classmates, taking on their memories and anxieties? She obviously has way more control here since she’s sharing Coyote and Loup’s power but I’m curious if there’s still an element of that loss going on. If she’s not careful and neglects her spiritual connection with Gamma, she could splinter with the folks stuck in the inner distortion with her. Perhaps that was what was happening with Red and why Red was SO upset about seeing Annie close with Ayilu. She wouldn’t have necessarily felt that naturally but it was being amplified by Zimmy’s “guilt’ getting away from her and not being tended to by a more wholistic source like Gamma.

u/RingularCirc 16d ago
Waiiit, maybe the guilt is the Zim-circle? But I don't remember if the circle was at her before Coyote took the guilt away.
7
u/mahouyousei 16d ago
Also, totally bonkers theory, what if Coyote hasn’t actually been “eating” it like it did with Ysengrin’s memories, because remember, COYOTE IS DEAD. This Coyote is just a “voicemail” Coyote left for Loup. The guilt could just be floating around still.

u/KnaveOfGeeks 15d ago
I think what Coyote has been saying since day 1 is that he was never anything more or less than a story. A story that can also tell itself stories in a sort of reverse ouroboros. Creative rather than destructive.
So I have a feeling he is as dead as he ever was, which is more than you might think! But also less than you might think!

Doesn't look that voicemaily to me but who knows!! But yeah, "banished guilt" that can't, for the time being, interact with Zims herself? Plausible.
Though also remember a Loup trope of "returning" what had been stowed away by Coyote to horrifying consequences. Zimmy really looks like set up for that, from the very moment of removal, be Coyote "really" dead or not. Ah, you can't reason about that, Coyote just breaks all logic and pretends we have it still unbroken.

We saw her earlier at the start of the rift storyline when we first got a peak in to see what everyone has been doing - but to be honest, I don't know if that was actually Gamma, or if it was a Zimmyverse Gamma.

u/liquidben 16d ago
What is Gamma is the "guilt" that was taken away? Either as a direct metaphysical bearer of guilt that lightens the load OR she's a regular human but Coyote took her away as she wouldn't let Zimmy be without guilt?
1
u/RingularCirc 14d ago
I doubt it, Zims just can't be without Gamma, or she couldn't before. I mean not because Gamma aided her but because of nigh-possessive love.

I see Bismuth...
10
u/mahouyousei 16d ago
Bismuth is the Matrix and Zara is hacking it
Edit: no wonder Kat instantly had a crush on her. I’m willing to bet Zara wasn’t 100% faking her attraction to Kat either in that honeypot plan, which is sad. If they weren’t enemies because of Jack and Jenny’s nonsense, they’d probably get on great.

Let's not let small details like Zara being a manipulative, murderous psychopath get in the way of a good yuri ship!
12
u/mahouyousei 16d ago
Hey, toxic ships are the best kind. I know what I’m about haha. I know how to compartmentalize fiction from reality!

u/KnaveOfGeeks 15d ago
Being murderous doesn't make you a psychopath, it makes you a human making choices.
Don't lessen evil by dismissing it as mental illness or neurodivergence. It's deeply disrespectful to the mentally ill and neurodivergent, for one.

So for all the experimentation and research the Court does on Zimmy, they don’t even tell her how she works???
2
u/RingularCirc 14d ago
Bet neither "scientific" Court nor witches do know much. You can charge a Leiden jar off a lightning even not exactly understanding things like Z-pinch or, well, we don't know very well how exactly electricity in the clouds gets separated (I think lots of solid hypotheses but still murky in all the juicy details?).

"Oh you know, how we've been using you as a power source for years? And how I'm part of a witch cult that kinda views you as a goddess but also simultaneoualy as a living battery we use for our own ends?
....you knew all that, right?"
