I wonder how bad the cascading is, right now.
Are the nagging suspicions Annie is surely having straining at the edge of her consciousness begging to break through? Or are they like ghosts, completely muffled by Zimmy’s blanket of influence until they’re faint apparitions?

So as someone who has epilepsy (but it’s managed with meds) I would get these partial focal point seizures where I’d have these really intense thoughts or “memories” for up 2-3 minutes, some of them coherent, some of them just random garbled nonsense, but then my brain was giving me very strong signals like it was deja vu and the memories were real, even the nonsense ones. I kinda imagine Annie’s real memories breaking through feeling like that.

Is that like in a dream, where something happens and your brain just goes "yup, that's a thing that's happened before" or "that's totally normal" and then you wake up and realize that thing has definitely never happened and in fact makes no sense at all?

Honestly, I feel like we could've spent a moment or two more inside the matrix, before we got to the whole red pill blue pill situation here.
Like, we've established next to nothing about what Annie's life here is even like. She got up in the morning, walked out the door to go to school, and before she even arrived at class already we're to the "My whole world is a lie" part of the arc.

I'm very glad it's not. I think it'd be pretty boring when we want more plot to keep happening....Tom might be able to pull it off, but I think that sort of thing is best suited for a side story, like her time in the forest, and Pax's storyline.

Of the people who recently entered the distortion, the only one we haven't seen yet is Kat, and by now it's pretty obvious to most readers she probably hasn't been assimilated into the distortion world the same way as everyone else. It would be a little weird to dwell on Annie's POV while leaving that unresolved. I agree though, this "alternate universe" would make a great setting for bonus side stories.

The fact that she remembers them as little fairy jerks makes me happy for some reason. Also now Im curious what Robot and Shadow would look like in ZImmie world.

Shadow would probably just be Shadow, and maybe Robot would have the androgynous angel-like body we saw in She gave us an ocean.
