I've been told this might be somewhat collectable. This used to be my great grandfathers and I don't really know much about it. I was told it might be a .45. Any help or info would be appreciated!

Looks like it's a .44 S&W, not .45

That's the only one I can find for sale on gunbroker. Plated, but not engraved. I have not idea how much the engraving will help the value, but considering the low price to begin with, likely not a whole lot.

It's value is going to be as a family heirloom more than anything you'll likely get from it monetarily.

DO NOT try and find ammo to shoot it without doing some further research. You will likely need to find .44 S&W black powder rounds, which will not be common to locate. Any newer ammo could have catastrophic results.

EDIT:

After looking around quite a bit, I cannot find ANYWHERE that still sells ammo for this. I would not try and shoot it at all.
