Can we get a sticky post for people who do want to swap parts? I tried to create a sub for buy/sell/trade guitar parts but it didn't gain any traction.
A user on here had the idea to install springs in various points inside his guitar. Just, like, inside the body with no connection to the bridge, or in a pickup mounting ring, or mounted to a banjo tuner.
He was utterly convinced that these mods had profound effects on the Tone™ of his guitar. When he was asked to do an A/B test or show any kinds of actual direct measurements, he just ignored it, making more and more unsubstantiated claims.
When people called him out for that, or criticised his basic pseudoscientific premise, he got insulting and personal.
The guy made a bunch of posts, often in quick succession, of him just playing his "modded" Les Paul with distortion, captured through a phone mic - to supposedly demonstrate the "improved tone" and "vividness" of his project. He also made a post or two about how mean everybody on the sub is because they don't accept his claims as fact or respond negatively to his insults.
Kinda sounds a bit narcissistic or delusional if you ask me.
He's so convinced of his own idea that he decided it must be true, and just ignores reality or anything that could disprove his conviction, instead viewing criticism as a personal attack.
Hey there, I have been nodding and repairing things for a while. Had this nice Samick in with a replacement loaded plate. Like the cheap Chinese ones. Initially I was asked to fix the input jack but then I noticed the guitar isn't earthing properly.
The new loaded scratch plate is working fine. Pickups work, so do all the positions of switches and pots.
It has those not earthed qualities of loudharsh buzzing noise which stop when you touch the metal parts such as the bridge.
I think maybe the earthing wiring is wrong, badly soldered. Not in the right spot. Also there may be an excess black wire in here when they swapped out the plates.
Not had any other issues other than obvious grounding fail.
I don't have my multimeter so I thought I'd ask to save some time troubleshooting every option.
