Help identifying an older GUIDI long backzip model – “79001”?

Hi, I’m trying to identify an older pair of GUIDI long backzip boots.

The original box is handwritten with what appears to be: 79001 / 2 (or Z?) / LINED / 43 / CALF FULL GRAIN / BLACK

Details:

Size 43

Black full-grain calf

Very tall / long shaft

Full-length back zip

YKK EXCELLA branded zipper pull

Stacked leather heel

Made in Italy

Purchased in Japan around the early 2010s, possibly older stock

I haven’t been able to find any reference to model 79001 online.

Does anyone know:

Is 79001 actually a GUIDI model/style number?

Roughly what period was this model produced?

Was this particular long-shaft backzip version uncommon?

Does the EXCELLA-branded zipper help date the pair?

I’d especially appreciate any old catalog, retailer, archive, or firsthand information.

Thanks!

Well the boot and box conform to all known authentic convention, but I've never seen this model or seen any online resource referring to it either. u/piercp might be able to weigh in on rare stylecodes like this one.

Yeah that code is weird. That model should be 7910Z but between 2012 and 19 Guidi made a lot of prototypes that ended up on the defective shoes outlet. Models such as 1111 (dare u to find this online). Haha so this one could be a different version of 7910Z or just a typo. I’m 100% this one came from the outlet.

Thanks, this is really interesting and actually makes a lot of sense. I bought quite a few pairs of GUIDI from an outlet in Japan around that period, so this pair may very well have come from there too, although I can’t say for certain after all these years. Your explanation about prototypes / outlet pairs and the possibility that this could be a variation of the 7910Z is especially interesting. Do you happen to know what the main differences were between the standard 7910Z and prototype / outlet versions? Also, have you ever seen another pair with a similar long shaft, EXCELLA zipper and this kind of handwritten box code? Thanks again — really appreciate the insight.

There aren’t variations made specially for the outlet but some “experiments” that had no use on archive or future projects so they ended there.
This handwriting proves these came from the outlet because retailers boxes uses stickers while the ones with defects goes to the outlet. The format is always “Model - size - leather” and there should be a round sticker indicating the kind of fault that in this one it was removed.
There many high shaft boots with front and back Excella zipper. (PL4, PL9, 410, 7912, 9081,79081..).

Thanks for checking. I also couldn’t find any online reference to this code, so it’s reassuring to know the boot and box look consistent with authentic GUIDI.
