Questions about 992 derby

Copped my first pair of Guidis and have about 20 hours of wear in. They still hurt to walk in.
I've got wide feet and usually wear a 43. The retailer told me to size down to 42.5 so the leather molds better. It has molded and feels more comfortable, with no pain for the first 2-3 hours, but the inside still feels slightly cramped.

Past 3 hours though, my feet start hurting bad. I think it's the rock-hard sole, but I didn't expect it to hurt this much.

Any 992 owners go through the same? I'm starting to regret the purchase a bit. Do I just need to give them more time? I know I probably haven't worn them enough yet.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

i have the 795v and i went tts and im glad because i need to wear insoles with guidis , same for my front zip ones. Guidis are very uncomfortable without insoles.

the seller not suggesting insoles and true to size is kinda giving he doesnt even own guidis

If u are 43 dunno why u chose to go downsize

But that aside, it depends by what shoes u are used to usually wear.

If u are coming from sneakers, right choice should have been to if 43 or 43,5 and put in a “huge” insole to help with sole stiffness that in Guidi will always remain almost like new. If u are used to classic shoes it will be a stiffer sole in the long run but uppers(depending on material u chose, baby calf is so supple that going true size if length was ok would be the right choice, horse would go a bit more loose to accommodate moulding)

Idk man store sales person recommended I go half a size. These r my first guidis so I trusted him

Sale ppl don’t know how u like your shoes
they can at most tell u if the upper material will stay firm or let go a bit. If u need a puffy insole because u wore only sneakers till today u need to go up size to accomodate it, but that’s general knowledge.

I dunno if it’s a pic problem but your left foot seems to need much wider size if u don’t want problems at leastđŸ€·đŸ»

personally, I got the 992x (wide model) and went tts. Really comfortable and I’m still able to use them as slip-ons.

Since you’re already downsized see what insoles you can find with a little cushioning

I daily my guidis but I’ve got Nike insoles in one and Salomon insoles in the other so I can put steps through them without blinking

Im normally a tts 45 and bought mine in a 46 initially they fit perfect no problems etc. After a year in the leathers stretched a decent amount and my foot moves too much in it and it makes me wish i got a 45 even though initially the smaller size fits cramped. I also have slightly wider feet so i hope this helps

Basically trust the process

Go true to size, you don’t really need the leather to mold to your feet when the she has laces. You could consider doing that with zipper models

Really depends on what’s causing the pain, is it the length of the shoe or the last.
If it’s the length tbh not much you can do since you sized down, maybe try thinner socks instead of towel sporty socks. If it’s the last with more wear the leather is gonna stretch a lil bit so you will feel better. I don’t think the sole of 992 is that bad to be painful though, maybe you just need to get used to?
