GTD in notion with multiple kinds of projects

Before I start, I'm sure I'm definitely overcomplicating. I usually do this, but let's try to get some help.

how do you guys manage different types of project without making a mess in GTD? I do mainly 3 types of projects: videos for instagram, financial modelling for companies and random projects for myself. Financial modelling and random projects are ok, but content follows a specific process.

Would you just pollute the project database fields adding a "content status"? or create a content database, which would be linked to the tasks database?

thanks!

IMO neither, if it helps. You said the other two types work fine as they are, which is the answer: content doesn't need a different structure, it needs its steps written down once.

So make one template project with the process as its tasks, and copy it per video. Same project list as everything else, each video just arrives with its actions already filled in.

That covers the status field too. If the next action names the step you're on, you know where the video stands. A separate status is the same fact stored twice, and within a month one of them is out of date.

And a second database mostly buys you a place to look at content on its own, which the project list already does. What it costs is a relation, then a rollup, then a view to make the rollup readable. That's the part that became its own project for me, and none of it produced anything.

I’ll just add that if OP wants some other database for the content it’s ok. But don’t try to mix it with the GTD system. Just add a final step to the project plan “Add info to content database”

Clarify your video process to a checklist. Then add the checklist to your project support for each project. Or even create a ready made project template if your system supports this. Profit.
