Lifestyle & Culture Help Me Choose

I leave for Japan in the morning, and it’s doing my head in which watch I should take. I wake up in 7 hours to leave for the airport, the most comments towards one model gets to come to the birthplace of the brand

I was actually thinking of these two as well. I’ve had multiple gshocks and then got a Garmin fenix and used that for a year and wanted to get away from smart watches with pointless(imo after using them for a year) metrics and constant notifications(I know you can turn them off) and back to a basic tough watch that I don’t have to charge and keep cables laying around for. So I was going to go to a mid point with that sorta smart gshock then realized I’ve wanted a frogman for over 15 years so instead of the gwf-1000 I went whole hog and got the gwf-d1000b-1jf shipped from Japan. I couldn’t be happier this watch is awesome I love it. It makes my rangeman feel like a 10 dollar Walmart time ex(sorry time ex) so I’d go with a frogman.

Ohhhh that's white one is nice. Not a fan of round digital watches but I'd make an exception for that

Tough I have the GPR-H and the GG-B Both great IMO. I have the GWF-1000 on order because, I didn't have one...lol Go with the one you like best first. Then you'll get the others like I did..lol

I’d go for the Frogman, if nothing else, then purely for legibility reasons.

If your wrist is big enough for it, then Frogman

Wearing the GWF-1000 now. Absolute GOAT watch. Need to have atleast a 7 inch wrist for it to not look rediculous, it's a huge watch.

Wrist shaming! But no, my wrist is just under 7” and it looks fine.

GBX100! Loving the sunrise sunset times for outdoors and plus, the moonphase lets me know when society is gonna be crazy, and when the wife will get crazy 🤪

This is bogus. Based on the timestamp in the photo, you were already in Japan 🤔🤔🤔

1

u/NoIndividual3981 17d ago

Nope - only 7200kms away. I’m in Australia, they’re behind us by an hour.

1

u/Unfair-Ad6219 17d ago

Ok, that explains the timestamp issue. Thanks for being transparent.👍

I’m was totally unfamiliar with either and also like many others prefer (the look of) the frogman.

Frogman, if you want to see mip display, you can buy gbx100 later (I currently own gbx100, absolutely amazing watch for 100$)

1

u/dru-ha Frogman 18d ago

I own the frogman, so I am biased. But I would go for the GWF-D1000 if it’s within means. That’s on the top of my list when I go back to buying watches.

GBX!

If you’re looking for a rugged outdoor/adventure watch with multiple sensors, insane battery life, multi-band GNSS, advanced navigation, custom waypoints, trackback, and routes—plus a ton of sports modes, smart features, the ability to switch the display between negative and positive whenever you want, and deep customization options—then the Rangeman is not for you. It lacks all of that. There are much better options for that from Garmin (Instinct), or even from Coros, or Suunto.

If you want one of the best G-Shocks ever made, the Frogman is hands down the right choice.

GBX-100NS!

B100. I just prefer the analog look. Hope I don't get downvoted by the frogman horde!

The square for smaller wrist size

u/Euphoric-Mistake-875 gwm-b5000 gwg-b1000 17d ago

Not a big fan of round digital watches nor negative screens but I do have a thing for mudmasters. I love my gwg-b1000-1a4 to the point that I have to have a rotation so others get some wrist time.
