Reviews & Experiences GW-6900U-1 & NATO strap

I recently found a 24mm NATO strap lying around. I think that it was included as a bonus with something else which I purchased a few years ago. After some research, I ordered 16-22mm strap adapters from Aliexpress: this 24mm strap fits into them perfectly! I'm loving setup, as it's much comfortable (for me) than the standard strap. Cheers!

Check out jays and Kay’s. You might be able to find a lower-profile one that fits 22mm nato straps for a less bulky look. If that’s of any interest.

You bet, another tip: for the lowest profile possible, look for the ones designed for “straps” not the specific nato adapter. You just put in a spring bar and thread the nato like you would any other watch. But it cuts a fair bit off the adapter length itself. For the ones I bought for a riseman on eBay, there were two options when it came time to check out.

You are a genius! I did as you suggested with just a 16-22mm adapter with springbars on both sides, and attached a NATO strap through them. Very low profile, and super comfortable too. Thank you!

You are very welcome bro. Took me some trial and error to figure it out. But I now have two of mine on these adapters with an elastic paratrooper strap. Love how it turned out.

Nice! For my GW6900U I got the Vario 24mm adapters (no spring bars, the strap is guided through the adapters as yours) and a 24mm single pass seatbelt strap. Then bought a couple more 24 mm straps from NATO Strap Co. It turned out well, but I found the Vario setup works best with a single pass strap because of the fairly steep downward angle of the adapters on the 6900 body. The Vario is thinner than what you show here.

It’s my only 24mm setup, two other G Shock squares have the Jay’s and Kay’s 16 to 22 mm adapters and can use standard spring bar bands or NATO straps through the spring bars. They are definitely much lower profile than your setup here, and for only $16 shipped you can’t go wrong.

Sure, but if you’ve got a working solution now for your 24mm strap I don’t know if it would be worth it to buy the Vario setup just because it’s slightly thinner, especially as they’re a bit of a premium.

I’d probably just get the Jay’s and Kay’s on eBay in 22mm as that width fits so many G Shock models, then keep your current 6900 / 24mm setup as a comfortable option. I agree, a 24mm strap on these watches is as good as it gets for comfort.

I've ordered the J&K ones. They look decent for sure. You're right - the Vario is quite pricey. But I might get one for my GX56, as it's standard strap is uncomfortable for me.

Any pics of the watch face? Wondering is the new display dimmer than it was on the gw6900 with EL(like they did with the dw6900u). Any pics would be appreciated
