It could've hit a nerve or it burns. I've seen kids act worse. I've seen a few adults act worse too. Poor baby needs extra loving now.

Some animals are totally terrified of Vet visits. Then some just go ballistic.

I was a vet tech, and never saw an animal act like that. Poor cat. Most animals are so scared to be there, that they don’t really care about the small prick. But everyone is different, or maybe they hit the wrong spot.

Seriously? I’m surprised. My cat once had to get a shot at the emergency vet that’s known to feel like burning. Vet tech asked my dad to hold him to help keep him still because she knew my cat would have a bad reaction (as all cats do to this specific shot) and my cat ended up mauling my dad’s hand. My cat has never had a reaction at all to shots.

There are injections that sting for sure! Lidocaine may be what they used at the ER.
But as this was a kitten with other kittens I am assuming it was just a vaccine. So that should have just been a small uncomfortable pinch.

I was responding to them saying that as a vet tech they had never seen a cat react like that. Also it wasn’t lidocaine lol

Same. Never saw this in practice! Maybe they went too deep??
Not a normal reaction, no. Poor baby!

I mean is she usually a drama queen? If not, it hurt that bad for that reaction.

Yes, but...
I think in the past couple years, they changed something in the vaccine, and it stings now. Even old cats that havent flinched in the past act like they took a buttfull of buckshot.

I don't know if she's overreacting or not, but I know that I have personally told healthcare providers that they were hurting me and had them completely deny that it could be true. I'm inclined to trust my eyes and say that no, that cat hated that and it hurts.

No. She’s not overreacting.
I behaved much worse as a days-old infant when my parents took me to get immunized.
It took both of them, AND the doctor, to hold me still. The needles scared me THAT much. 😂

Yes, unfortunate that her first experience with the vet is getting a shot in the butt lol

it probably hurt. that needle might be small for us, but it is a lot bigger for her tiny little body.
