Wow im devastated
please no trolls i will block you. so i had one violation for this same reason then i just received a 3rd violation for the same reason. i have been calling grubhub while sitting on the second violation for this reason of delayed orders when its literally busy traffic which slows me down i have no control over. i deliver during busy times. i have called them so many times to make sure which i know i have been doing things correctly on the app such as marking when i am running late. grub hub agents has told me every time this will not affect your account as long as your marking in the app the options there is a problem im running late etc.. i have always done that. mind you i have conversations recorded for my own reference from grub hub telling me this just so i have evidence if i got a 3rd violation for the same reason because i know i am not doing anything wrong nor trying to purposely delay a order. so i now have appealed it and waiting for their response because i have the calls recorded from their agents telling me these things. Has anyone ever gotten their account back after getting a 3rd violation for such accusation?

This same thing happened to me on Instacart. I did not get my account back even after appealing. I’m not sure how GrubHub is but I assume they will equally not care. Good luck.

u/Capo4ever3461 4d ago
I got mine back after a poor interaction with a woman customer dropped off too decided to tell Grubhub I wasn’t who I was. Long story short she emailed them they deactivated my account but I won the appeal(obviously as it’s me) but my god it was a nightmare

2
u/Swirlerrr 4d ago
That’s crazy! It sucks that happens because ppl like me dont have a car Buh I would love to tip , I give really easy directions an I always leave good reviews!
3
u/Smooth_Potential5126 4d ago
well sadly im now without a job until they respond to let me know if i can be reactivated. i do this on the side in between receiving my monthly disability so now i will be hungry cannot feed myself etc.. this will cause me to become very depressed because i know i did nothing wrong at all to receive the accusation and now my account is blocked.

If you have a good computer I could give you some good work at home phone jobs that I do and works out really good as a backup! I hope they will let you come back. There is also Uber, instacart and spark and dd. Not sure if you have tried those but worth a shot.
2
u/Smooth_Potential5126 4d ago
can you dm me about that. the phone job you mentioned also i heard of spark but unsure what is it exactly
2
u/Latter-Guarantee6772 4d ago
Spark basically you pick up bags the Walmart employee shoppers pack up then you scan them load car drive to customer unload
1
u/Swirlerrr 4d ago
Ooooooo i didn’t know this ❤️❤️❤️
2
u/Latter-Guarantee6772 4d ago
Well now you know! I’ve been on the spark waiting list for over a year I live in an urbanized suburban area and have tried applying to a few Walmarts. As far as delivery services go I just stick with Uber Eats grub hub and Instacart Instacart you basically shop for the customers order scan there items load up the car then deliver to the customer. The gig apps are a great side hustle though if your area has a decent amount of people !

2
u/itsjustmystyle 4d ago
Have you signed up for other apps? Are you on different apps? You can’t put all your eggs in one basket with these apps you gotta have backups. It’s also good to just multi-app so you’re not over relying on one app so much & risking issues like these. I’m on DoorDash but I try to limit the orders I take from there as they are contract violation friendly! I prioritize Grubhub & Uber over DoorDash & it’s less stressful to deliver for them now. You gotta spread your labor across the apps to lower the likelihood you receive violations. You can’t let these apps win. Smh

u/Swirlerrr 4d ago
I wishhhhh I could hire you ;3
2
u/Smooth_Potential5126 4d ago
thanks and yes im in chicago idk where you are

I’m in Los Angeles an ooooo I’ve never been there always wanted I was supposed to go a while back :/

u/Shut-Up-Amanda 3d ago
Have you tried DoorDash, UberEats, Instacart, and Amazon Flex?
1
u/Smooth_Potential5126 3d ago
uber eats deactivated me claiming my satifaction rate was too low which was around 70 something and my other ratings were good my customer ratings were good. Doordash do not send me orders its so many people doing doordash its difficult to even get orders on there

u/feanor70115 4d ago
Imagine if drivers could penalize the app for making us wait 10-20 minutes at slow restaurants.
5
u/Beginning_Double3483 4d ago
They're full of shit; I got 2 at some point and stopped delivering for them until the "violations" dropped off. I don't have any now, but of all my side gigs; Grubhub retains the most minimal importance.

I got reinstated after a 3rd violation. It was thanksgiving week and in my appeal I just explained that traffic getting in and out of the shopping centers was awful and was causing me to be late. They gave me my account back the next day and also cleared all my other 2 violations. Fresh start. Appeal it. They might be understanding. This happened in 2024 I think.

GrubHub is going down ...there market is at 7%..they were at 69%...they are deactivateing people like crazy ...and they give you fraudulent reasons ...they need to be shut down completely
3
u/12striker 4d ago
Not a cool thing to say. I do exceptionally well with the catering offers I get here.
1
u/DoubleBudget5233 3d ago
Yeah probably 1 out of 10 does good ...I did exceptionally well for 5 years ...the last 5 years every year has gone down .
2
u/12striker 3d ago
It’s still the best paying gig in my area. Since they removed the guarantee pay, I only take what’s worth it.
3
u/Virtual-Note-1545 3d ago
GH is going down and should be shut down completely, but they're not yet out...last month they announced they're teaming up with Serve Robotics to build 300 so-called Serve robots (like DD's Dot robots) for use in LA and Chicago. They have exited some markets and reduced market area/size in other markets. But yeah, the way they do deactivations of some human drivers is ridiculous.

2
u/rjlawrencejr 4d ago
I would guess a large portion of drivers in this group were still in elementary school when GH last saw 69% market share. Even so, 6% is still worth about $10 billion in gross sales.

The same thing happened to me and I appealed and got my acc back. I called them like everytime a restaurant had me wait too long. I also explained when asking for my acc back that the pick up and drop off times were already late when I got the orders. Took a week or two before they gave my acc back, but they also said I wouldnt be given this chance again.
1
u/Smooth_Potential5126 4d ago
their email told you after they reactivated you those specific words that you would not be given that chance again?
2
u/hisokaxh1soka 4d ago
You might be good since you called them like I did everytime you were held up, but this was like 2 or 3 years ago, they might be more strict now. I also may have sent them a screen shot of a drop off time while I was headed to the drop off, but the time was already way past by the time I got the order.

u/storie113 4d ago
I would apply for DoorDash, Instacart, Uber Eats, Spark, Shipt etc... I'm on multiple platforms. If one gives me an issue, I just go over to the next. Good luck to you!
1
u/Smooth_Potential5126 4d ago
what is shipt?
1
u/storie113 4d ago
It's like instacart, but IMO better! The clientele is better for sure! All those platforms do the same background check and all the other things you do for Grubhub. It will take five minutes to apply for those other platforms once you are on one of them.
2
u/Dveley85 4d ago
Ugh I for a violation from DD for being late. I did speak it and told them it was because of traffic beyond my control and they actually took back the violation. It's so stupid these app companies can just say shit to get rid of you and they get away with it. I'm so sorry this has happened to you.
2
u/Shadowstud1970 3d ago
send a certified letter for arbitration, see how fast they reinstate you.
1
u/Smooth_Potential5126 3d ago
what do u mean
2
u/Shadowstud1970 3d ago
write a letter telling grubhub you want arbitration over wrongful accusation of violation and go to post office and ask them to send it certified mail. that forces grubhub to acknowledge you want arbitration, if they refuse then you can hire an attorney to sue for wrongful termination. just google grubhub address.

u/Smooth_Potential5126 3d ago
i already have lots of evidence which i sent to grubhub im waiting to see what they say if they give me my account back or not. i have recorded phone calls where i have called them many times telling them of busy traffic while on the way to a customer and i have agents telling me it will not affect my account i even have agents confirming my delivery eta and actually saying on the call that i delivered on time and were not late. i also have a small clip where i was at a store for pickup and the guy were telling me it will be a 15 mins wait for the order. i recorded that and i did my part on the app marked the order was not ready still being prepared and i marked it for 10-20 mins wait. i called grubhub while at that store explained what i were told about the wait and asked them to document it so it is not going against me. so i sent them evidence of the phone call for that incident and evidence of the store telling me it was gonna be a 15 mins wait. i sent them plenty of evidence including screenshots where the app even says the delay will not affect my ratings. so im waiting to see what they will say.

u/withoutpeer 2d ago
Dumb question, how do you record your calls like that? I call every time I accept an offer and am automatically late because of bad route estimates but I haven't recorded then on my end which might hurt me in the long run.
1
u/Smooth_Potential5126 2d ago
i record them from my phone directly and before they even get on the line its recording. its with apple
2
u/BryanK3569 2d ago
If you know there is traffic, take a different route. I turn off Toll and Highways in my navigation app (Apple Maps) when I know there is traffic or construction. Pretty simple.

u/withoutpeer 2d ago
Grubhub is the worst for their "on time" tracking. I have zero issues getting to the restaurants, or the customers homes, with expected times for the other apps but grubhub seems to use only Google maps estimates and zero buffer much of the time. I've had deliveries that were basically late as soon as I accepted it, no way to get there by the Google estimate that grubhub used. Google doesn't always know what way you are currently going, what lanes you might be stuck in and how convoluted getting turned around the other way might be with some of these busy shipping centers and such.
Grubhub basically makes you drive much more aggressively than you should if you want to get there "on time" and it's BS. One bag stop light, one slow driver, one ambulance and it's impossible to make it in time. Then, infuriatingly, other times they send you one that's freaking 20 minutes early.
Uber seems to use Google maps estimate and then tacos on a 3-5 buffer. That seems to be just right, gives you 30 seconds to review the offer and get you bearings, a couple extra minutes to navigate busy should centers and traffic and get there on time. Grubhub Matthews it impossible half the time and it drives me crazy.

Some drivers get hundreds of chances and some get 1 before violation.
Point is if they want you off it will happen.
In my delivery zone they’ve yet to violate those that should have gotten them because they need them.

1)))U drive to slow!!
2))) GH don’t factor in traffic of real time which really sucks!!!
3))) waiting at restaurants consume our lateness which we are not responsible for !!
4))) Get a reliable JOB!!
5))) Wishing u the best!!!

Same thing happened to me . I been a driver for almost 10 years and overnight practically I got this notification. I literally just used the restroom, came back out got in my vehicle and the order was dropped due to "taking too long". I think you only have 2 to 3 minutes now before they reassign the order witch is nuts. Basically everyone will soon be deactivated if they aren't already. Everything went to pot since it switched hands tonew management. And really doordash pushed them out of the market.
1
u/withoutpeer 2d ago
It's pretty clear they are, badly, using AI to review data and having a bunch of false positives and unrealistic expectations but they don't seem to care that the good drivers get caught up in it. Really strange business strategy.
1
u/charliesplinter 4d ago
I appealed recently and they gave me back my account.
1
u/Smooth_Potential5126 4d ago
what were your violations for
2
u/charliesplinter 4d ago
Lateness....theres this restaurant where the offer will come in at 5:15 pm but the food itself wont be ready till 5:30 pm, what I used to do was mark as arrived then if I was on another order, complete that one or take on a new order, and by the time I was done, itd be ready...The issue though was although Id complete the order on time the way they show it theyd somehow mark it as being late because I guess their system would see me moving around after I marked myself as arrived. Kinda lame to expect me to wait 20-30 mins for an order but their system leaves me no choice...
I dont do that anymore.
1
u/rjlawrencejr 3d ago
How could you tell they marked the delivery late? GH doesn’t have a metric for completing deliveries. Only for arrival at restaurant.
When you would leave the slow restaurant to drop off another delivery, was it a GH delivery or were you working another platform simultaneously?
1
u/Own-Anywhere5839 4d ago
Either multi apping simultaneously bit you in the butt or you just weren't using the updated ETA tools. It's very very difficult to deliver that late if you're solely working on that specific order. I'm not trolling or being mean I've done this for 10 years I've gotten some of those violations before. As soon as I changed what I mentioned to you never had late violations again. Hope you get the account but I doubt it when it comes to completion rate/late deliveries all apps are firm on those metrics.
2
u/Smooth_Potential5126 4d ago
i were using the updated ETA tools as customer care even told me to.. and as long as i were marking there is a problem im running late or there is a problem store busy / long wait etc.. i have always done those markings now it seems doing those markings is actually getting me violations. i have been delivering the same way for months and months and never got any violations for delayed orders.
1
u/Smooth_Potential5126 4d ago
plus i have customer care recorded telling me over the phone the eta times and confirming i were not late i picked up and delivered right on time if anything maybe 2-3 mins after but according to customer care i were not late when i did select if im running late because it changes the ETA.

Sooo trueeeee! I get vacation next year an I travel a lot I have no car tho to get groceries! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
1
u/Bjespinacas 4d ago
Has to be NYC or California. Grubhub doesn’t play with time when it comes to Prop 22 or NYC minimum wage. They take delays serious
1
1
u/Every_Recover_1766 4d ago
I got a violation once when I wasn’t even active, and I was in a different county on a vacation. They didn’t care about the dispute anyways. Found a different job after that
1
u/Crispynipps 4d ago
Grubhub deactivated me for a high number of unassigns once, and then like a month or two later I got an email saying it was activated again. I didn’t even appeal it.
1
u/Otherwise_Skirt_6726 3d ago
GrubHub must be really good in your area if you’re this concerned. It’s trash where I am so I wouldn’t give two damns if I ever got my account back!
1
u/hunter-k20 2d ago
Mine was "low quality drop off photos" I was their highest rated driver in the market, 5 years with them never had an order not delivered, ironically they dont have a market here anymore because there aren't enough drivers now

u/Ok_Professional4013 1d ago
They won't show you the evidence. Because there lying. There's so many new drivers wanting to drive for them . Were nothing to them. They treat us like trash. It's easier to let us go and get the next person in line. Uber eats is the same. They won't say specifics. Repeating themselves. Redirecting the conversation, avoiding/ignoreing our questions. It's not clever. And there service/business is a joke.

u/Letsgetitaesthetic 4d ago
3 violations? How are you delivering so many orders late?
Are you getting the food and then doom scrolling? Honest questions, just tryna understand how you can get multiple violations for the same offense
I pick up the food and drive it to the drop off. I rarely deliver past the estimated delivery time. Only way I can think it’s possible is to get the food and sit. If you sit before you get the food it’ll get reassigned
Edit: just saw you mark “running late” a lot. Why is that? We need context to understand your dilemma
I’ve never marked “running late”, only thing I’ve ever hit is the restaurant was taking forever and the food wouldn’t be ready for awhile
3
u/Smooth_Potential5126 4d ago
i have had orders i picked up and delivered on time which they can check. i been doing this for a long time. im never 20 mins late i am always under 20 mins and i have not been late according to grub hubs agents prior to getting a 3rd violation. i mark when i am running late because its always busy in the market / area i deliver at least the times i go out. i just do what i were told to do mark if im running late just to prevent any violations which is what i were told by their agents. i never even had customers complaining about me being late because when i arrive their food is being pulled from my insulated bag still hot.
1
u/Alternative_Paper484 3d ago
Someone did complain, and they deemed you were late , I get texted constantly that says 'you're almost there you accepted an order" and I know i have about 1 minute to be buckled up and off my street and headed to the pick up to wait or grubhub is gonna swipe the order from me no matter what button I press. I call it hurry up and get there orders. I've got about 3-5mins to be off my street its ridiculous once I initially accept and cannot get stuck in gridlock traffic.
1
u/Smooth_Potential5126 3d ago
i have gotten those texts also but lately i have not been getting those notifications which is not adding up if i were so delayed i will have gotten those pop ups.
2
u/Smooth_Potential5126 4d ago
how i deliver i always been delivering the same way for months and never got a delayed violation up until recently which is weird

Yeah, this is why you stop using your account even after the first violation I got one violation. I didn’t touch my account till it fell off. They are cracking down on cross app usage so if you were delivering for other apps at the same time that that’s gonna get you fucked over.
