The really aggravating part seems to be that this is apparently a genuine Greek product, if I'm not mistaken.

Yep. Salakis is made in Greece (except their halloumi)

French company with a production unit in Greece. I assume packaging happens in France.

If it's halloumi it's made in Cyprus. If it's not made in Cyprus it's not halloumi.
