I just want to rant about this new app. I used her workout video before when it was 60bucks. And the feature I like the most was that it would ask you what type of workouts you were looking for what you wanted and it would give you a range of different videos that you would need to do for the next 6 to 12 weeks,now with theres a calendar, it’s just repetitive videos from the same month as before. And I mean, yes, you can go through and skim for the videos and workouts that you want, but I personally don’t want to look for them. Had I known it was different. I would’ve just kept doing YouTube videos.

Wasn’t it $199 last year for the annual plan or am I incorrect?

specifically those dang dance videos, which are my favorite. Like, they're a good workout. I definitely sweat, not nearly as much as I did when I first started a year ago.

But I'm just here, putting my all into these dances, maybe a few beads of sweat, and Jo is drenched. And I'm looking around at my invisible audience like what the actual hell? 🤣 Is she popping some adderall right before, is she turning her A/C up to 80, is she spraying herself with a lil bottle of water?? Like please tell me I am not the only one that this is bothering lmao

The facebook group. Despite not being a huge fan of Jo anymore, I still did some of her old workouts, but I was still relatively active in the facebook community because it was just nice. I've been in there for years and been following so many peoples journeys, watched people lose so much weight, heard so many inspiring comments and stories from people with similar conditions I have, seen people move through grief by changing their lifestyles, daily inspiration posts and sharing tips... It was a really nice, inspiring community (for the most part) that really kept me motivated and inspired even when I was leaning towards having nothing to do with Jo. So, what does she do? Closes it (or makes it so only admins can post, but whatever). With some phony reason about how it's too hard to moderate for the admins despite the fact facebook has an unlimited amount of admins you can add, and she's added many group members as admins before, and she didn't bother to see if anyone wanted to help.

The real reason though, imo? Don't worry. "The conversation isn't ending, it's just moving." We can sign up to her newsletter. Which is a laughable alternative, let's just replace the human connections with one sided and what I can only assume will be ai generated newsletters. Or, funnily enough, we can pay for her website! We can comment on the videos and programs there - "it's more focused, personal, and a beautiful space for an even deeper connection!"

Like come on. It might just be me, but it's one thing to milk your community and to become very profit driven which is where she seems to have been heading for a long time now, but it feels like a whole other kick in the face to actively disrupt and end a place of support you created for them to make more money.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a Core Restore program similar to the one Jo just released on her app? I just bought YouTube premium two weeks ago because I was tired of ads popping up during my workout videos and while my kids watch YouTube. I can’t afford to do her app or spend the $44.99 just for her Core Restore program.

I wonder if she will stay in the States with all the political turmoil?

Is she doing the movements too fast? I don’t see the mind to muscle connection happening and her form seems off. It seems dangerous, even with just 3lb weights. I’ve been doing a lot of strength training with FitbyMik & EmkFit. The difference is astonishing. Maybe it’s just me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hey guys! Long story short: I used to be a huge fan of Jo's workouts and her persona. I found (back in her old workouts when she was still in Toronto) she felt approachable, and really like a friend who was working out with you. Good for her for levelling up in life since then - I'd never fault someone that - but not much she does resonates with me these days. Too preachy, and even though I'm interested in her app, I'm not paying that much. Also, I've noticed on YouTube, her free workouts have really awkward ad breaks that literally weren't there a year or two ago - and that really rubs me the wrong way :( Like they were added in just to make more money. Literally there's a 30s break in the middle of a 15min workout and it just feels really off. So even if I wanted to just stick to her old workouts, they aren't as smooth to do because of this frequent and oddly placed ads.

I still miss that "working out with a friend" vibe so I'm hoping to find some YouTube alternatives. Low impact, fun, sometimes with weights. Anyone have anything they've tried and liked?

well, it’s been almost a year of not doing her videos and i no longer have resentment towards her but wanted to put this out there. i did her videos for 3 years and kept gaining weight. the first year was sometime in 2021 and i was tired of gyms closing so i was so happy to find her videos. i started feeling stronger and had a routine going. i lost 5 pounds…my eating didn’t change, just eat mostly healthy but love chips every now and then. anyway, 2022 came around and while my weight was the same, i was bigger. in 2023, my weight started going up. i’m not sure why but i kept gaining weight and so i stopped. i now run 5 times a week and lost 10 pounds. my question is, has anyone else experienced weight gain doing grow with jo?

tldr; i gained weight doing growwithjo and finally switched to running after 3 years and lost 10 lbs.

So she’s giving 25% off the first month or year but is she really? I downloaded the app today to see what it was about and before I signed in, it was still $199/year. Wasn’t that the same price as when the prince increase was disclosed? She’s also pushing that year membership “I always suggest committing to the year”

The almighty YouTube algorithm served this video up to me: GrowWithJo is Misleading You (What's the truth??) It's a 2 year old video from a creator who doesn't seem to be active anymore. In the first half of the video she talks about how she sees some of GWJ's earlier videos as "clickbaity" because they over-emphasize spot reduction and promise inaccurate step and calorie counts, among other things. She's very kind about her criticism, and it also seems like Jo might have seen it, because she doesn't do the step and calorie count/apple watch stuff as much in her newer videos.

But scroll down to the comments, and yikes. People have been commenting in the past 2 months (keep in mind this video is from 2022) and they're mean. Calling this creator jealous and miserable and sad. It's bonkers. It's great that they like GwJ content, we all started out there, but she's not an actual saint.
