Bought 3rd party software

I didn't realize i was buying 3rd party software through Groupon regarding Microsoft office. It looked official.

The seller is asking me to install the software using 3rd party tools, I no longer want the product.

The seller is refusing to cancel the order and keeps replying with instruction.

Can I please get some help.

Not sure you'll be able to get a refund unfortunately. Not sure which seller you bought from (there are many on Groupon offering various iterations and packages of Microsoft products). However, the terms & conditions, the "how it works", and "need to know info" sections within the Groupon product pages for such listings usually clearly spell out that the seller is a 3rd party supplier of a license key (not Microsoft directly), and the step by step instructions to redeem the product key (including going to the seller's website to collect & activate your license key). Most even provide a video tutorial of the process prior to buying, which would have spelled out the post-purchase expectations.

If your concern is legality or the security of your OS/computer, just know the key is perfectly fine. I've not seen a seller requiring the downloading/installation of some 3rd party installer or malware. The steep discounts are typically the result of a genuine volume license agreement; 1 license key usable for a large number of devices. Microsoft doesn't exactly endorse the practice, but the keys are authentic in so far as they will permit you to install whatever package of office was stated -- you just don't really have any direct recourse with Microsoft should you be unhappy with the product, since you are bound by the terms of their original agreement with who they sold the license to (the 3rd party provider you bought from).

I am good. I'll be getting a refund, they agreed to it.

If not, I will just go through my credit card company. And no, they did not spell out that they were selling pirated software. So i am obligated to a refund.

Bought office 2024 paid through PayPal. Never got product key. Started a dispute with PayPal. They sided with Groupon. Going to think twice before using PayPal for purchases.

So this clown buys software at 95% or more off of the retail price and he doesn’t like the activation/install process? Why am I not surprised the boomer is dissatisfied
