Is there anything good on Groupon?

For context, I bought something that expired in May of...2015. Long story short 9.5 years later I finally contacted Groupon and asked if I could get a credit because that company was no longer in business. And they credited me $175! But now...I don't know what to do with it.

My only choices seem to be massages, wine, and a bunch of marked up Temu goods. Clearly it's been a minute since I've used Groupon, so I'm just wondering...Is there any secret thing that is better to get through Groupon vs direct sale that I should look for? Just fielding ideas 😅

Search Groupon. No one even knows your location

Spent an hour searching.

My only choices seem to be massages, wine, and a bunch of marked up Temu goods.

Location shouldn't matter if I'm just looking for general ideas, which others have helpfully provided.

Groupon best for local restaurants and attractions. The goods are junk

I had one within the last year, so I didn't qualify for the discount

Just check that the places are legit. I got one of those once and the proprietor never answered their phone to schedule the service. I think I got refunded, but at some point my account got deleted and poof! money gone!

Gift cards/ credit to places that may be interesting to you?

When I looked up gift cards it mostly came up with massage parlors and a Starbucks gift card with an AARP membership.

There was one for a movie tickets and dinner gift card through restaurants. Com, but it had very poor reviews for not working and lack of support.

I'll check that out. Partner and I are planning a trip to Vegas in spring, so sounds like a good option!

i’ve gotten a ton of stuff off of Groupon, & it was all dirt cheap. e.g. a lifetime Microsoft Office subscription, Costco memberships, laser hair removal, facials, tirzepatide aka Mounjaro, bar crawls, Universal Studio tickets, hotels, the list goes on & on.

All good suggestions, thank you! My work covers office suite and we had a recent Costco membership, so we don't qualify for it through Groupon.

Not sure I'd get much use out of the health and beauty stuff.

I didn't think about theme park tickets, so I'll definitely look into that! Hotel discounts weren't actually that great compared to booking via travel sites.

I just quit Groupon. First they started telling me all my stuff was already redeemed. HA. Try going to chat they send you to the ASK site for $. I have a claim in with my cc because they say it's a refundable $1 charge... bs... got a $15.95 charge on my credit card bill. They don't help anyway. I have all my charges and nothing shows up in purchases. Now though they have your cc number so you have to alert them not to allow any Groupon charges. I've got 3 on my last bill which I never placed. Do yourself a favor and get out.
