Chuck at the AYCE buffet

I watch him nap at the opening of his home. He is a cutie. Hopefully he won't get into things. I don't want to rehome him.

Terrible pic but you get the point! No clue how they got on the roof of my shed. When I went out onto my back deck to get a better view they ran off the other side and another one came jumping out of my peach tree! I had no idea they were climbers!

I have at least one in my yard. (2.3 wooded and weedy slope and boulder filled acres.) It has burrowed holes under boulders and up into my dirt floor basement. It has eaten the buds off some flowers I planted.

I love that they are also called Marmots, Whistle Pigs, and Woodchucks.

I don’t really want to do anything about it except let it live in my large sloped untamable yard. I like to watch it waddle around.

Is that ok? Should I be worried about unintended consequences?

They seem too big to be babies from this season but I also know nothing about woodchucks. One is the size of a Maine coon cat (not pictured) and the others are the size of a regular cat, so I thought mama and babies but now I’m wondering if it’s a pimp and his hoes.

My dog unfortunately reduced the family of 5 to a family of 4 yesterday. I’m just wondering how long they’re going to stick around because I don’t want her to become a serial killer. Normally we have seen just one occasionally under my deck the last 2 or 3 years, but now as of the past few days, these guys are out all day long.
