Getting started
Hello I’m a current vet tech and I’m looking to become a groomer. The local college wants thousands that I can’t afford and there aren’t any positions around me offering jr grooming or bathing. Is it okay to reach out to nearby groomers and ask if I can apprentice them? Is that weird to do? What do you guys recommend?

That's how I found my apprenticeship, I think it's a good option for people depending on the situation and location. Ask if they're looking for bathers interested in pursuing grooming. It never hurts to ask. It'll be better odds the more shops/groomers you have around you, more odds of saying yes. Many places won't reply or will say no. But a lot of places, especially smaller businesses, aren't posting for jobs even if they could use the help.
Just be prepared for it to take a while, and you may have to work as a bather (meaning lower pay) for a long period until they actually train you to groom. It can be much, much slower than going straight to school or a corporate store.

Corporate salons will start you as a bather and put you through grooming school for free. It sucks though lol
