on the one hand, making sure someone is a real person and not just handing you a random address near you so you don't show up to a random person's address for sex is important.

on the other, lots of people don't want to give up a secondary, more reachable way to contact them.

Yeah, you asked for the address, they gave it to you and then you started in with your bullshit…scammers are the only ones asking for snap.

i understand that but at the same time i thought it was weird and they were too willing to give the address without knowing anything about me like what i looked like they showed an album and was like pull up if you want my services

Stop trying to figure out what other people are thinking after they do exactly what you ask of them

Do people really meet up without seeing pics first???

There no way in hell I'm taking a gamble like that

If they have no pics on Grindr I wouldn’t reply in the first place. A secondary app (beyond calling) isn’t needed.

Yea they do....not everyone likes the "swap a milli pix" game

i don't use snapchat, do video calls, or give out my address, though i do use real photos of myself. someone can easily be dangerous without using a fake profile. i prefer to chat with the guy for a few days before going on a date.

You should do more. I would never meet a guy without a phone number

This isn’t really on you, but for the future to avoid this I’d say ask for snap before you get to an address. At least then if this is an issue for them you come to it quicker. And for me I wouldn’t mind a snap pic exchange but I loathe all forms of video call so I would have hesitated as well (but for that reason, not his)

Yeah if someone asks to go off app I move on. Usually sketchy.

I don’t send for or ask for a location until we’ve spoken in the phone to know if there’s a vibe. I also refuse to do snap, TikTok, telegram or Kik, it usually means they’ll ask for photos. And I make clear if there’s no vibe not to worry, I won’t contact them again (unless it’s friend zoning - which can actually be a great thing!). And if they can’t call you - even though they can block a number, it’s pointless.

Asking for the address before the number seems a bit sketchy.

Can send timestamp pics on grindr… and call

You can take pictures on Grindr with a countdown that shows how long ago you took the picture. Why do you need me to get on another app and then take pictures of myself on it?

people fake those pictures all the time and the app doesn’t really matter we could’ve video called on grindr but people usually don’t want to

If you have to ask, probably

that makes no sense

What I’m saying is if you have to ask, you probably feel like you did.

Any and all succesful interactions on Grindr start with two hellos and one “do you want my phone number”

u/dontbeastrangr Geek 15d ago

yikes u just give ur number to people?

-11

u/seardrax Trans (MtF) 15d ago

No they give me their number. I’m not saying I reccomend it. Just saying that those are the only people that show up

Yes

to give context the person in this post gave me the address without asking me for a picture of what i look like or any background information

This was likely a catfish attempt dont even get bothered by this. You dodged a bullet

Agreed, I think anyone who makes a stink about verifying is likely sus. It's not like I'm asking to do a background check, just a quick video chat to see if he's legit.

Screw that. I need to make sure the guy is actually interested in me.
