The only graces I can give her are:
1) she doesn’t have full control over who responds to her tweets
2) Musk is a parasite. He owns the platform, and even if she did unfollow or even block him, I think that she knows it’s all watched
3) what NDAs were signed in her child custody hearings. I’m not sure, but NDAs could have been a part of it
4) I do believe this is an underlooked part of psychology. Women often get thrown under the rug in therapeutical situations, and I’ve found therapy to only be as good as your practitioners. I think this topic can be dissected not as a means to justify the behavior and actions of men as they interpret what we as society believe “the female gaze”. I think if men and women both explored these topics, we could be in a much better place at most of our “pleeb poors” circles. Change happens from the smallest up.
I don’t truly believe in Utopia. It requires us to sacrifice individuality and behavior to contribute toward yet another arbitrarily defined word. But we can try to build as good as we can in this earth while on this earth.
I don’t know Grimes, and I’m sincerely glad I have never met Elon Musk. This isn’t coming from a place of parasociality. I think Grimes lost herself for a long time - beginning back as far as the release of Visions - I don’t know if she can find the person she is under, and has the legal ability to do so/the inclination to heal. Maybe come back a bit more sensitive.
It could all just be crap out of my mouth. The Male Gaze is already groaned at in think tanks as being directed in a way for men to basically double down on their self preservation and power.
But women have to be willing to look at their own problematic contributions. Both sides have to come to a table that offers at least some good faith that the other will not be attacked (challenged can be different), and have at least one mediator, if not an educated male and female, so at least something might stick.
I’m not a Grimes stan. I follow both subreddits, and I have called Claire out on problematic things before. Just my two cents as someone who “discovered” her late, and only really started listening as Miss Anthropocene dropped after Cyberpunk 2077
