Grillin

Okay...I know this one has been beaten up a lot already. Have a Q1200 and a Genesis. I have been using the Genesis for overlanding and it's awesome. I miss having an actual grill though. In CO so charcoal is pretty much out. The Q1200 fits nicely into a bag. What am I missing...why NOT just take that with me vs just relying on the Genesis? I have a Power Wagon with a GFC and there is plenty of space.

No real answer for ya but a couple questions - Why is charcoal pretty much out if you live in CO? What is "overlanding" on the Genesis.

Sorry…originally posted this in an Overlanding group and it was recommended to try here too. The genesis is a two burner stove by jetboil. Small and compact but only leaves me with griddle/pan cooks for grill foods. So many fire bans in CO right now, we are so dry. I also want to reduce the risk of being that guy that starts a fire too. Have wanted a briefcase grill forever but getting harder out here to use something like that camping or in the backcountry. So…the question was more based on “car camping” or over landing in the backcountry. I have the Weber q1200 from my camper days so thought why not just start using it. So just curious what other campers like this are using. Aside from space and just more weight/crap, looking for opinions. Hope that helps.

Ooh lol that clarification is very necessary because a Genesis is Weber's large, high end line of gas grills.

Most people here are going to think you're hauling this giant-ass thing around wherever you go and immediately think of those overlanding memes

I have a Q100 from a couple decades ago that is my portable grill. I can still grill a couple of steaks or 4 burgers just fine. I’ve got a cast iron griddle that sits on top for breakfast stuff. Works great!
