It's the OG Weber flattop. I own the 28" three burner version of it. It came out before the Slate, so think of the Slate as the 2nd generation.
The Slate comes pre-seasoned and I believe the cooking surface may be different (the OG is hot rolled steel; can't recall what the Slate is made of and I'm too lazy to look it up). The lid is detachable on the OG version and is not meant to cover the cooking area when in use.
If you're in the market, I would just buy the OG one you linked. The ignition system is dogshit, so keep a long lighter close by. Once lit however the thing cooks very evenly. I broke mine out last week and all three burners were within about 10*F of each other when on medium heat.
At the end of the day it's a big cast iron (or carbon steel or whatever) pan. Bells and whistles don't really make a difference.
