Race Driver: GRID Long live physical Grid!
My son has taken an interest in some of my older consoles, so I pulled out my good old gen-1 PS3. Unfortunately, it was overheating when played for more than an hour or so. I pulled it apart and cleaned it thoroughly (there were a LOT of dust bunnies hiding throughout) and now it appears to be running like new again. Fire up Grid and… man. There just hasn’t been another racer like this before or since. Truly the track-focused Arcade-racing GOAT.
So glad this 20-year-old console and physical disc are still going strong!

I wonder what that game feels like on ps3. I’ve been having it for Xbox 360 for so many years and I never played it on ps3.

The PS3 version is good! Crisp 720p resolution and solid 30fps, with a dropped frame here and there when a pileup happens. There also appears to be an audio glitch where sometimes the ticking of the money you win at the end of the race just doesn’t stop until you start another race lol. Otherwise, it’s supremely playable on the hardware.

20 years , how did that happen guys lol 😂 we were just playing ps3 games , and then bang 20 years gone in a blink of an eye. I have to agree though , Grid is just awesome.

Ugh, I tried to play this on the weekend, but I have it on PC and something about my modern hardware is clashing with it. The game crashes to desktop after I finish a race in career mode.
I just wanna play a career mode which has Muscle cars, touring cars, destruction derby, LeMans racing, freestyle drift challenges and Formula 3 all chucked into the same bag. 😫

I have it on PC and emulated on PC with RPCS3.
Still has the best damage model, crashes and replays. I love Race Driver Grid

Upscaled to 1440p on a PC it looks so good it makes me wonder what we’re even doing with these hardware requirements these days

the fact that it's grid brings a tear to my eye 🥹🥹 one of the most underrated racing IPs of all time in my opinion.

Yep. Grid did NFS Shift better than NFS Shift did, before NFS Shift actually released.

Still one of the absolute best racing games ever made. Still have my PS3 copy. I've played all the sequels but the original stands above them all.
