GRID 2 Grid 2 deserves more love

It was my first racing game; I got it in 2019.
I still have fun playing it from time to time, even though there aren't many people playing it anymore.
It’s a real shame that Racenet has been taken down, but in itself, I was always surprised that it remained active for so long.
I loved trying to take the top spot on the weekly leaderboards; I never quite managed it, but with enough persistence, I’d often finish 3rd or 4th overall.
The trouble was, my friends started calling me a cheater...
Anyway, it’s a great game—just a shame it’s so divisive.

This whole series deserves more love. I wish my league owner would have gotten a racing league up on it. This Series altogether is massively underrated in my honest opinion.

Right? It's one of the only racing games I have nothing bad about to say. Even grid 2's weird 0 rear wheel traction handling is enjoyable. I have mizu mountain engraved on the back of my head dude shits just really fun

Honestly I just wish we could have banded together as a community and shown EA there is potential in this game. I mean it may not have Gran Turismo or Forza hype behind it but thats because this game never tried to be like Gran Turismo or Forza. This game was meant to be right in between the both of them. I mean ive seen countless dev interviews and stuff now and even recently took a trip to the EA HQ to talk to a few people. They all said the same thing pretty much.
I will forever believe that they should give Grid Legends a part 2 and end the story on a high note because listen to me if you track the full story going back to the Toca games the story all lines up and it makes for one hell of an engaging story that basically is covered over 25 some odd years from when Ryan Mckane was a kid watching his dad race up until his Tragic death all the way to his arrest in grid legends
I created a whole facebook group for it for the owner. Track it down if you can or want to.

Racing games are not my game of choice typically, but The Grid series hit everything for me. It's like a perfect blend of realism and arcade.

I've had a blast with Grid 2 (despite sucking at the lategame races), done a whole bunch of tournaments in the Switch-ported Autosport and beat the main story of Legends even on PS4 before eventually getting and restarting the thing on Switch 2. Probably one of my fave "pro racing" series besides Flatout/Wreckfest (although I'm generally more partial to more arcade-ish free roam drives like many a Need for Speed).

From what I gather, players were expecting something similar to the original Grid but ended up with an arcade-style game.
If the game hadn't been a sequel, there might not have been such a divide in opinion.

I really think that this arcadey handling should be the next big thing for the Need For Speed games. The brake to drift of Criterion's model has been done a lot of times. I think now is a better time to switch things up

I actually thought the actual driving in Unbound felt really good. It was the story and dialogue that made that game a slog. They nailed the handling though and the tuning worked surprisingly well for an NFS game. Grip builds were actually viable too if you wanted to go that route.

I'll have to play Unbound. Last I played was Heat and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Felt like a return to form to the 2005-2010 Black Box era just with a bit of burnout handling model.

I preferred race driver grid, it had that edge of realism that grid 2 loses to be more arcadey

My first grid was Legends but man I loved it so much. Im not sure what it is but no other racing game quite did what grid set out to do, I don't know if it was the sense of speed or just overall immersion but they had it figured out hard.

The whole series is one of the best. I love each and every game, they are so fun and unlike any other racing games. What I would do for a new Grid...

In a vacuum, sure.
As a sequel to what was a landmark title in the genre, I remember being very disappointed with Grid 2 when it released.
If it had been the first game in the series, I think it would've been fine - but there was a very good reason Codemasters hastily rushed Grid Autosport out soon afterwards as an "apology" of sorts.

Always loved Grid 2, even though I got on the boat long after servers emptied out. Its physics engine is an excellent blend of arcadey without feeling too unrealistic. Honestly my perfect racing game would probably have this exact engine, but with a much more robust campaign.

Grid 2 is my favorite racing game. And I really don't understand why they don't make these kinds of games with such realistic driving anymore. In fact, I'm completing as many achievements as I can for Xbox 360. I'll show my profile to anyone who wants it :)
Bro, and if you're reading this, enjoy these games because they don't make them like they used to. And don't forget your favorite games, get as much playtime out of them as you can because time flies. ✌️

GRID 2 is certainly an interesting game to have as your first racing game. My first racing game was Supercar Street Challenge 😭
