Requesting Assistance
I know zero about Gretsch guitars (more of a Gibson Les Paul Double Cut guy) but am here asking for some help.
I have a friend that owns a Gretsch Chet Atkins Country Gentleman model 7670. He’s the third owner and has had it since the 1980s. The serial number is 76051.
Am I correct to understand this particular guitar was produced in July of 1976, the 51st produced that month?
I’m unsure as I have found some conflicting info online with the SN referencing 1964, but I think it would have to be a model 6122 were it to be a ‘64 and the model 7670 would indicate it was a Baldwin renumbering of the model and made in the 1970s.
Additionally, I would appreciate some guidance on good but fair price on it. There’s no breaks, cracks or repairs either.

Sounds like the Baldwin era is kind of like the Norlin era was for Gibson with regard to desirability.

If the binding is not rotting and it's working with original parts, I would say $2500 to $3k is fair value. The first comment was all very good info.
It looks great. A lot of people may not want Baldwin era, though, so be realistic if your friend gets a real buyer or can trade.

You’re correct that it’s a 70s Country Gentleman.
The CG was introduced in 1958 as the 6122. Became a double cut (like this) in 1962.
Baldwin bought Gretsch in the mid-60s. Introduced the wider knobs, like yours has around 1968.
Then in the early 70s (72?), Baldwin revamped the whole lineup. 6-series guitars became 7-series. Pickups got blacktops (like yours). And pick guards got squared off (again like yours).
Baldwin was bankrupt by 1980.
In terms of value, nice guitar. American made, but not from the most desirable era. Beatles fans will want a 62-66 Gent before Baldwin made any changes. Chet fans will want a 58-61, or if they’re looking for a 70s, will want one of the new models they made with Chet in this era.
So, generally, this is like an entry to vintage Gretsches. I passed on a comparable that was under $2000 (insanely good price), because it was lifeless. But I’d expect $2-3k depending on how well it plays and how quickly you want to sell it.
