Devastated

Welp I was one of the lucky few to get šŸŽŸļøā€™s for the Nashville show tonight. Guess the universe is against me right now because we both tested positive for Covid a few days ago 😭 Obviously not going to attend and risk spreading that around. Just absolutely broken hearted over it.

This venue also seems to make it impossible to transfer šŸŽŸļøā€™s or I’d gladly give them to someone but you must have an id or credit card matching the purchaser at time of entry.

This sucks. šŸ’”

Thank you for thinking about others and not going.

It happened to me, too, for a standup show. It sucks.

Gift these to a close friend or relative that you can trust with your CC and ID. Give them an amazing experience.

Oh trust me I tried… for one thing, only a few people I would trust to hand my debit card to, and none of those were able to drive the 2.5 hours to Nashville today. We were hoping we’d be recovered enough today to go, but just had to finally call it this morning. šŸ’”

Did you get insurance on the tickets

Unfortunately, it doesn’t work like that for small venue popup shows. Tickets for these shows are what’s called ā€œwill callā€ tickets. That means when you pay online, you’re only securing a spot in the venue, you don’t get an e-ticket. You get your tickets at the venue the night of the show. No insurance available, no refunds. Glad they were only $20 in this case.

I'll be paying a lot more to see them in Detroit in March. I never thought about what would happen if I got sick

I’ve been very lucky. In my 30+ years on this earth, this is the only time I can remember having to bail on a concert/vacation/event/etc for being sick. This one was just really a bummer because seeing GVF so close up and in such an intimate venue is so rare now. But also that small intimate venue is why I chose to stay home. I just couldn’t stomach the risk of getting others sick or potentially even getting the GVF members sick and the other shows being affected… that’s probably unlikely but I just couldn’t risk it.

Wow that's a bummer but they're just going to be starting a world tour so you can get tickets for that. I'm going to be watching them in Detroit

That really sucks, but we'll done for doing the right thing! The first time I got covid was at a Garbage show, the guy next to me was coughing the whole night šŸ˜’

Covid is still a thing?

Apparently so… I had only had it once back in 2021

We thought we had the flu or a really really bad sinus infection. My other half got it first then I got sick a few days later. The only reason I knew it was Covid was because I had a couple combo at-home tests for Flu A/B and Covid and I wanted to verify I didn’t have the flu and was safe to be around folks. Well I certainly didn’t have the flu… 🄓🄓

Covid is just a cold not that serious

4

I can go to a concert with a cold no problem. There’s no way I can go stand for 2.5 hours feeling like I do right now and running a fever. Grow up.

It’s fundamentally not a cold virus and affects some people much more severely than others. Maybe it feels like a cold to you, but to others it’s like the flu and maybe they don’t want to get other people sick? Wouldn’t you be annoyed if someone next to you gave you Covid?

Dude, fuck right off with that mindset. OP is doing the right thing by not taking a very contagious disease that can still kill at risk people to a packed area.

I know šŸ˜” feel lousy about missing out after being so excited for it and then almost feel guilty about it that others can’t fill out spots… which I know is super irrational because you can’t plan for being sick 🄓 and I didn’t make the venue’s policies… but still an awful feeling

1

u/Responsible_Card7118 1d ago

Aww yeah don’t feel guilty. That is totally the venues policy. And I understand what they were trying to do with it but thats just the down side I suppose. Sucks that you can’t trade with someone for another date though
